Been gone for awhile. Trying to catch up on some Mariners news and it looks like the big club sucks balls even more now than before I left. So hopefully there is some good things going on in minor league land.

I wish I could say yes, but it is Marinerville USA.

Why Montero is in AAA and Weeks is a Mariner is mind boggling, they honestly provide the exact same thing to the club. You can't build his value if you keep him in AAA when you're big clubs offense sucks so bad.

Tacoma Rainiers ‏@RainiersLand 8m8 minutes ago

John Hicks launches a three-run homer and the Rainiers lead expands to 6-2. We're heading to the bottom of the 8th in Sacramento.

I still like this kid.
I still like him too. For me his last years season really elevated his value in my book. But I am actually encouraged by his progression through the minors.
He had 3 great years in A and A+. Then struggled in AA during the 2013 season, then had a very good year in AA the following year before being moved to AAA mid-season where he also hit very well. So I think a down year this season isn't something to worry about yet.

Really? If he can make it through waivers then why haven't they tried this with Ackley? Outside of a lefty off of the bench what exactly is Ackley better at than Ruggiano?

This is what I said in the past and if he gets claimed you either pull him back or trade him to the team that claimed him.

Ya, I don't the particulars on those whole waiver/DFA thing but it seems that has been Jack and Lloyd's excuse when ever brought up about Ackley is that some team would claim him.

I watched most of the Rainiers game today. I was interested in seeing Forrest Snow pitch. Very impressive start from him, only thing I didn't like is the 4 walks.

7 IP, 1 hit, 1 ER, 4 BB, 3 K's

This is the second start I have seen of his this season. He is growing on me. He uses his defense for sure, I looked at how many GO/FO he had after the game 7GO/9FO. The one hit he gave up was a triple that eventually scored on a sac fly.

So who would you compare him to in the majors? I have only seen him briefly in spring and don't really remember much that stood out at that time.

Montero has 25 HRs and 120 RBIs in his last 158 AAA games.

Start looking at teams needing a 1B/DH because I truly believe he is gone. Maybe Boston for 1B if they are looking to start dealing some vets and start over to a point. And he might fit well in Fenway.

Marlins were another place I thought he might fit. They love Latin players and need a 1B.

Phillies and Brewers were two other spots if they both could deal their respective veteran 1B's. Revere for Montero? K-Rod and Parra for Montero and something small?

Honestly he kind of reminds me of Chris Young. He uses his length to his advantage in the same ways that Chris Young does. He is 6'6" not 6'10" so its not quite the same but you can see comparable styles when he pitches. I would project him as a decent 4-5 starter on most teams. Although I think it is possible he runs into some trouble at the major league level because he doesn't consistently hit his spots and making those mistakes in the majors can lead to some hard hit baseballs.

I think it is good to see some depth emerge in AAA with SP even though it is still young untested rookies, but thats all we got for depth right now unfortunately.

I didn't realize he was that tall. Good info, thx.
