No, I don't consider the first four games opening round.

Post your field of 64 upset specials.

I got:
13 Eastern Washington over 4s Georgetown
12 Wofford over 5 Arkansas
11 Texas over 6 Butler
9 Purdue over 8 Cincy
9 Saint Johns over 8 San Diego St.

Every one of my upsets came through last year (I was 30/32...missed Duke losing and Dayton winning). It likely means I'm gonna fail this year since brackets are cyclical.

I like Wofford as well @Smart

also think SFA could get hot enough to knock off Utah.

Gotta have at least one 12 over 5. I think that is my fav of those 4 match ups.

The top 4 lines are fairly strong this year but some tidbits from what I've actually seen.

I saw N. Dakota State play and I think Gonzaga is going to destroy them. Robert Morris was correctly seeded as a 16. They looked horrible.

Everybody is picking G'town to lose because they think they are overseeded and uneven (they are). I think they are one of the least likely teams to get upset. They have size, length, and can throw teams around.

I don't know that much about Baylor, though I have seen them play a couple of times. Georgia State I have seen play since last year. They have an NBA player, and a couple of blue chips. They haven't translated that into a great team but it's worth watching.

Everybody and their dog is picking Texas over Butler. 2 teams that I have seen a ton. I think Butler will win that game. Texas is a bad team, and Butler will not beat itself. If Texas was just able to flex it's muscles and win games, they'd have won a lot more of them.

Flip a dam coin. It's so hard this time of year.

Eastern Washington for 2 reasons.
1) Georgetown beat the average teams in the Big East and didn't beat anyone outside their conf besides Indiana.
2) The game is in Portland, much closer to Eastern Washington

I don't know much about Buffalo or SF Austin, but one of these teams will win. If WV goes cold, there you go.

Dayton is at home and did well last year. The team that could really surprise is Wyoming.

Wofford

And if the refs let Purdue bang with Kentucky, look out. They can play defense and if they get hot, UK may not be ready. UK really hasn't played a good team since JAN. I know they are loaded, but running the table is so hard. If they had 1 loss, I'd say they will win for sure..

GTown is a physical team that drew a super-quick three point shooting opponent. EWU is basically Indiana but with better shooters and much worse defense. GTown should score a lot, but they drew the worst possible matchup for their defensive style. I actually like the Hoyas this year (they almost beat Wisconsin in Atlantis), but their interior strength is useless against EWU, and that's their best attribute.

I'm not optimistic about Texas' chances. :L

Stephen F. Austin over Utah is my upset special.

Not sure I follow that. Is it the brackets or your picks that are cyclical?

Honestly, I know nothing about EWU.

It's the odd year I'm actually hoping for very few major upsets on the first 2 days.

I've watched a shitload of college ball this year and I've seen all of the top 36 schools play at least once. So, I'll be looking forward to a lot of those matchups.

I have:

#12 Buffalo over #5 WVU
#11 Texas over #6 Butler
#11 BYU/Ole Miss over #6 Xavier - I think BYU wins the PIG
#13 UC-Irvine over #4 Louisville
#13 EWU over #$ Georgetown
#11 UCLA over #6 SMU

I have some 9's over 8's but didn't include them. Not really "upsets" IMO.

My bracket results are cyclical (Good year followed by a bad year or two). Last year was the best First Round I've had. IIRC, I was in a 200ish person tie for around 20th out of 10 Million, so my First Round is gonna suck this year.

BYU/Ole Miss is an upset lock of the century, Xavier is flat out garbage and it is a joke they are a 6 seed with 13 losses in an overrated conference.

I was leaning hard towards Stephen F Austin over Utah but the Utes simply lock down like no other. My only 12 over 5 is Buffalo over West Virginia, you pretty much have to pick at least one a year so this isn't a confident pick of mine.

Xavier is garbage?

Sparty can't even close out games it has entirely won. If you guys had won that game, you'd probably be a 5 seed and not complaining about how Xavier is overseeded.

Oh, and not having to face a powerful UVA team in the 3rd round.

Good one...

The Utes will need to lock down hard if they want to avoid an upset. SFA scored over 90 points 9 times this season. They pass very well and hit their shots.

This tourney is so unpredictable. The best I ever did on filling out a bracket was the first one I ever did when I knew close to nothing about college basketball.
