But you do not know, for one example, if Cosby's lawyer advised him to lie and confess and pay to make the civil case go away, since there was no threat of criminal action. That might well have been cheaper and easier than fighting a false charge -- especially in a "he-said she-said" case.

Many, many civil cases are resolved in this manner.

Again, you don't know one-hundredth of what you claim to.
Thousands resolved like that - Lawyers make their money doing that

This is an interesting read on the actual topic, as opposed to the name-calling and other silliness.

I doubt most of this author's information, but perhaps others will give it more credence. In particular, I seriously doubt the claim that Dallas never even asked any other team in the league if they wanted Doncic. Also, comparing Doncic -- good though he may be -- to Wayne Gretzky is journalistic malpractice.

After next year though...I think the Lakers take that Lebron cap space and look to rebuild around Luka regardless of what Lebron might want.

Or Lebron opts out and signs a team friendly last contract with the Lakers.

I think that's possible if LeBron:
1) Respects Luka's game, which I think he does.
2) Wants to stay in LA.
3) Is assured that Bronny will be on the the team for the duration and get the opportunities to develop
4) Thinks the team will contend for titles if he gives up some $ for cap space
5) Believes in coach JJ

Someone asked James about signing a team-friendly deal to help the team win last time around ( or maybe the time before that, I forget ). He was, IIRC, profanely dismissive of the idea, and observed that he is not a charity. And he subsequently signed for the maximum he could get.

I would not hold your breath while hoping for this.

I don't believe that the Lakers are trying to send that message to Lebron - but they did get him the closest thing to a Dwayne Wade or Irving as possible - and Luka is young enough for the future when Lebron retires.
Luka is waay better than either of those two.

But he clearly is lazy. Scary how good he could be if he gets in tip top shape.

LeBron James signed a two-year, $101.3 million contract with the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason, taking a slight pay cut from the two-year, $104 million deal he was eligible to sign.
That allowed the Lakers to stay below the dreaded, and prohibitive, second luxury tax apron. James told reporters on Sunday that reducing his pay was all about giving the Lakers flexibility to improve the roster:

Steven A Smith mentioned that today and noted that this should be a wake up call for Luka - If He plays with Lebron Long enough, perhaps Lebron can pound some common sense into the kid.

The kid thinks he knows everything when in actuality he is just spewing crap to support his opinions
Doubt he is a "kid."

Most likely he is a retired person in his mid to late 60s that is eating jello with fruit bits in it while at his local nursing home waiting to have his Depends changed.

He didn't compare Luka to Gretzky, he compared the trade of Luka to Gretzky's trade....and he's right.....I grew up in Los Angeles and at the time it happened the Gretzky trade was a huge trade of epic proportions.....

Maybe. That would be a first for him. But, he's a billionaire, so maybe he'll decide it's worth it if he thinks there's a shot at one more ring?

Doncic has not played in a couple months, which you ought to know -- but clearly do not.

Doncic got hurt on Christmas. You're stretching that "couple months" measurement.

Gonna be interesting...maybe they can put together a package or packages that brings them someone like Nic Claxton (no idea if the Nets are interested in moving him), or Myles Turner...or maybe they decide to give Ainge what he wants for Kessler? Would Knecht, removing the 2027 protections and the 2031 be enough?

Rui/Vincent/Hayes for Claxton/Keon?

Max Christie says hi.

Better than that.

And more experienced

Christie is a nice piece. But they need another dude if they want to contend this year.

Lakers were looking to do the same, potentially with someone like Bruce Brown.

He’d be really stupid not to bend on this so late in his career, if he actually cares about winning.
