If that it the case ... then that is crappy journalism.

Maybe so but welcome to the world of 2013. Again I am not saying that is the case exactly but context makes a big difference especially when you play 162 games and talk to the media every single day from the middle of February to October.

Maybe Wash knows Martin is the kind of person to respond better to someone doubting him rather than gushing praise? Some people perform better just so they can prove people wrong. Or maybe, like Refugee said, we're all looking into it entirely too much. Seriously, who cares?

Sure ... am sure negative inspiration at this point is what is going to turn this team around. And "seriously, who cares?" then really is a telling comment. If 'who cares' is accurate ... then this team is toast.

LOL you are a hoot. Wash opens his mouth and says something silly and you just want us to laugh and gush about how Wash is just being Wash. If he is too ignorant to make an actual comment of substance when the team is doing this poorly and the change is so radical then maybe he should just say no comment or we just needed to shake the team up a little. You know, think what the hell you want to say before saying something to the press. It must have been awful for poor Wash to be ambushed by that mean reporter with such a tricky question. How was poor Wash to know that this little bitty change might trigger a softball question like this one? He better get used to being on the hot seat. This team has underperformed for much too long and the tough questions are coming soon if they do not snap out of it soon. He is the manager he is paid to be responsible and interact intelligently with the press when situations are tricky. There is more to being a good manager than spitting seeds and giving high fives.

Hot seat? Wash knows the DFW area well. He knows he only has what one week before all the beat writers are focused on Tony Romo's cyst recovery and who is doing play calls. I know my local news is all about the Baylor Bears and Cowboys training camp and how Romo won't play in the HoF game. So the local beat guys are already writing Wash and the Rangers off.

Damn what a rotation

Colby I am afraid is still a ? mark. You can't average an 88mph fastball after one inning of work and expect to keep the ball in the park.

Have you ever managed people before? Everybody responds differently. Some people rise to the occasion when they are doubted (this guy named Michael Jordan), others respond well to positive reinforcement.

I'm saying who cares why Wash says what? What he says to the press doesn't correlate at all to what he says in the locker room/dugout. All this is is "much ado about nothing", because people with an agenda against Wash will take anything they can about him out of context to use as ammo for him being fired.

And you're assuming a whole hell of a lot here. No it's not a Wash being Wash statement but rather my thought on all coaches and players. Again you're taking it literal because you don't like him and it doesn't matter what, any chance to get on him and criticize him you will do it and that's fine. There is no issue of something being a softball question or not...the issue is here that whatever people in his position are going to say people are going to take it and run with it. It's not just in sports but happens all over especially in politics.

In the end tho I am glad the FO and Wash are leading things here and in charge of making the decisions because if we fans ran everything I don't even want to think how the franchise would be run.
I am not assuming anything other than the quote is accurate. He is the top spokesperson for the on field play of the team. He is paid damned well to do it and talking with the press is one of his responsibilities. This was a poor comment by him and one of many.

Guilty as you charge, I do not care at all for Wash as a manager. I have legitimate reasons that I express. I am entitled to express those ideas. Other than me not caring for Wash my complaints about him are largely legitimate.

You are guilty of being a Wash apologist. You are also entitled. You want to explain away anything that others point out which you deem as negative about Wash. Trouble is your explanations are weak.

You do not believe the manager is responsible for any of this mess, it is all the players fault. Management 101 is that the manager is responsible when problems are this widespread for such an extended period of time. It is that way in business, in the sports world, and in most other areas of life with the sole main exception being politics where the people in charge are almost never held responsible.

Wash is a poor manager that is my opinion. You think different good for you.

I like that Wash shuffled up the lineup today but I still feel like E. Beltre has earned the right to start for a while over Murph. Also, I'd prefer Cruz at 5 but I don't have a problem with AJ splitting up the righties too much.

Did I ever say the manager is not responsible? Clearly you have not read my posts. And yes I don't believe what's happening now warrants a firing no you're right there but it doesn't mean I agree with everything that is being done. If I am guilty of being a Wash apologist then you're guilty of being anti everything Wash. Good for you too.

And of course I'll say it again that I am glad the FO are the ones making the decisions in Arlington rather than us fans.

Well I for one have had enough of the reports of Tony Romo's cyst recovery. It is like going to grandma's house during the holidays and hearing about all the doctor's visits and procedures:) I am a Cowboys fan indeed, but the coverage they get would make you think the team is of the quality of the Landry years or Aikmen years. They are nowhere close to that and are going nowhere as well. I think most DC fans are resigned to hope for a good enough record to compete for a WC.

Skins fan here and we have the knee of RGIII all over the news. I doubt the skins have enough to compete for 2nd in the NFC East.

The cyst sounds much more interesting than the knee.

I bet the rest of my Vcash on the Rangers tonight. They gotta win something sooner or later. The lineup change and Wash's comments on batting Martin 1st inspired me to bet the farm.

Well the RGIII knee is a controversial issue for Skins fans and management. There will continue to be questions raised on why RGIII stayed in that game.

Plus we are getting the RGIII knee news here in central TX too since RGIII is a local hero.

I feel pretty good about this one too, even though we suck against Weaver.

Well Weaver will be careful. Last time we faced him, we put him on the DL. We did that last year too I think.

Great player and he seems like a legitimately nice guy. He is great with the fans, the press and the community. I live in Richmond VA and the training camp is here this year for first time. The locals and local press are insane about all the SportsHoopla. I stay away from the training camp area is too nuts.

"Have you ever managed people before?" Since you asked ... yes, I have. If you believe three times as a squadron commander including one in combat qualifies when positive reinforcement by leadership means a bit more than instilling confidence in a first-time rookie leadoff batter.
