The Bears have little to no cap room.

I'd like to know how they plan on pulling that off.

I guess if they cut Peppers it would free up some bucks, so maybe that is the case?

All that report states is that the Bears are in "strong pursuit of Bennett".

It is not a clear indication at all that the Bears are anywhere close to signing him.

I think Peppers cap hit is like $12 mil so that would be the route I would assume they take if they bring in Bennett

but if he signs with the bears i think the hawks should really look into signing jared allen he already said he wanted to play for us (and the patriots/broncos) I think he would be a monster on our Dline

I think it was nfln that quotes allen saying he would rather retire then be a situational player. Take that for what its worth

Well if the reports are true I can see where the confusion is. The reports say Seattle offered him $8m/yr and Chicago $8.5m/yr. Given his very public claim to be going after the highest bidder one might say Chicago won, but did they? Illinois has a state income tax and Washington state does not. He would pay around $425,000 in extra taxes playing for the Bears than he would here which means both contracts are nearly identical. Does tie go to the team he has the best chance of winning on, or to playing with his brother?

Also factor in cost of living in both regions. Pretty sure it is more expensive to live in Chicago than Seattle, but I'm not positive on that. I'm sure his agent knows those details.

Kind of just goes to show its more important for the media to be 1st then correct some of the time. Ill take everything I hear with a grain of salt until stuff becomes official.

Clayton saying Bennett was at the VMAC the past 24 hours where he met with all the coaches and prob Schneider there too where they laid out the deal offer. That he's going to take the day to think it over.

Said that even if Chicago deal was slightly more than Seahawks, he thinks he'll resign with Seattle. Hope so. Sounds like that if these are the only two teams in serious contention, we should get a announcement fairly soon.
