LOL. My dad would disown me if I got drafted by the Packers.

I guess both you and the Packers are fortunate that that would never happen.

I don't understand why some of y'all are having trouble wrapping your heads around this. Players go after money all the time. Ndamukong Such just left a very good Detroit team for a Miami team that doesn't have near the same amount of talent.

Greg Jennings says he would 'definitely reconcile' with Packers - Acme Packing Company

Greg Jennings says he would 'definitely reconcile' with Packers

Greg Jennings spent the first seven years in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, first as a deep threat for Brett Favre then later as a well-rounded, lead receiver with Aaron Rodgers at the helm. The Packers won Super Bowl XLV in part because of Jennings' clutch catches, including two touchdowns and a must-have third down conversion on the team's final possession. In most cases, a player with such a resume with Green Bay would be cherished.

Of course, Jennings left the team after the 2012 season for the Minnesota Vikings and began a prolonged, public spat with the organization and Aaron Rodgers specifically. It got ugly at times, with Jennings refusing to acknowledge Rodgers by name and accusing the team of "brainwashing" its employees.

However, after two seasons in Minnesota, Jennings is trying to mend fences. He said he would "definitely reconcile" with the Packers while also acknowledging that his behavior was influenced by a bruised ego.

While Jennings hasn't always been the most honest player in interviews, it's easy to believe that he felt hurt by the Packers. Heading into his final season in Green Bay, Jennings reportedly asked for a new deal averaging $15 million annually only to receive an offer of $11 million per year. That figure dropped to just $8 million by the following offseason when Jennings became a free agent. While the offers made sense for the Packers, who had Jordy Nelson and James Jones in tow as well as an ascending Randall Cobb, Jennings understandably felt discarded and lashed out. Two years later, Jennings is taking the high road and offering an olive branch to the organization where he got his start.

At this stage, there's no reason to suspect a reunion is in the offing. However, if the team felt it needed to add a reliable receiver to backup its starting trio of Nelson, Cobb and Davante Adams, Jennings could indeed be an option.

i don't see how the Packers organization would want him back after he burned that bridge behind him.

I'd be ok if the Fins signed him to add a vet presence but would have to be a cap friendly deal. I think that he could more than fill Harts numbers and be a better redzone threat. Depends what he wants...

That's a bit misleading. Prior to the start of the 2012 season, the Packers offered him $11 million when he wanted $15 million, so he didn't sign an extension then. Jennings was injured a few times during the 2012 season, so the Packers then offered him a $8 million, 1 year contract. He declined their offer and became a FA. The Vikings offered him a 5 year/$45 million deal with $18 million guaranteed.

Right so if he was not so damn greedy and took the $11mil multiyear extension he was initially offered he would have been better off. $15 mil is damn high and much more than he was worth. There is always a risk not taking the extension. He would have been better staying at the $11 mil then have 2 more years on the contract to be at the same point he is now at the end of his time in MN. That would have been better than the $18 mill guaranteed by MN.

The $11 mil was not just a 1 year deal so if he would have taken that instead of dreaming about $15 mil he would be better off today.

Greg Jennings passes on Packers' $8 million offer; Tom Crabtree rejects $700,000 deal

In 2012, when Jennings was near the peak of his powers, a source said talks on a multiyear extension ended when he turned down $11 million per year from the Packers, which was far less than the $15 million that he told the team he was seeking.

Ok, then you could also say the Packers were being greedy when they offered him a one year - 8 mil deal. There is nothing (other than your homerism) to suggest that the Packers would have honored their entire $11 mil per year deal with him to this point had he signed it, leaving him "better off today".

You must not have read the full article in the link provided or you dont remember what happened in his contract year but here it is.

Then Jennings suffered the second concussion of his career in training camp and sat out 2½ weeks. Returning for the opener, he suffered an abdominal injury, aggravated it in Game 4 and sat out four games before undergoing surgery Nov. 1.

Jennings returned in Game 12 and finished the season, but by then he was labeled as an injury risk for having missed 11 of the previous 22 games.

So what team in their right mind would offer as high of a contract that was offered before the contract year when the Packers tried to extend him when he missed 50% of the previous 22 games? With Jenning being hurt why over pay and be locked into a long term deal with guarantees? A 1 year $8million deal was all they wanted to risk.

That is what I meant by there is always risk not taking an extension before you contract year as Jennings would have been better off accepting what was was offered the $11mil than playing through his contract year hoping for more and then go and get injured. But greed wanted that extra $4 mil he never got and ended up getting less than the initial offer.

So I am not seeing how the Packers were greedy with $8mil to a guy who wasnt playing much.

You're still assuming that had he signed the extension, the Packers would have honored the entire thing. The Packers receiving core didnt skip without him, pretty sure by now he would have been cut or restructured to pay their younger and more productive offensive pieces.

Greedy? You can't blame a man for feeling like he holds more value than what he is offered. Put yourself in his shoes. You make $50k working at the top company in their field. A lesser known company that is mediocre in the same field comes along and offers you $60k. Are you honestly going to pass up that increase in salary?

Yep. Not a chance in Hades The Pack wouldn't have cut him by now.

James Freakin' Jones led the league in TDs one year. Some people even think Jordy is a Top Five receiver. It's hard not be good with Arodg throw in' the ball. If somebody else wants to pay you, take the money..... N run.
