Let's get it up on tHoopla bookie....

PP8 means he has clear sailing to get over to the rail if he's last out of the gate.

How did you know I was dropping him to the back?

did you have a choice. I was taking it as he doesn't have speed to get out in front when coming out of gate so why not ease him to stay clear of getting bumped around and becoming rank out of gate. save ground into first turn and get him relaxed so he can be rated to half mile pole

I'd like to see his past performances from DRF or Equibase

Yes. We give the jockey instructions as to how much early speed to use. It's on a scale of 0 (to the back of the pack) to 100 (try for the lead). Lions Stigma is set to 2 for this race. I don't even know if he can get 11 furlongs.

Should run all day with Sadler's Wells and Blushing Groom. Maybe struggles first time at mile 3/8 but that stretch out should do just fine in the long term.

Has he ever showed an ability with early speed or does he simply prefer to stay back and use pace until comfortable in backstretch and settles his stride ? Fractious at all while in gate or being loaded into gate ?

I haven't used much early speed since I started him in routes. However, in his debut, I set him at 97, and at the first call, he was 2nd by a nose in a 5F sprint. So I would say he has the speed to go to the front. Especially in long races. It is something I will try in the near future. Gate loadings aren't a problem. He's Caldwellesque.

gonna have to have a convo about this, Sir.

seems like he got comfortable and had good closing after 3/4 pole

great to see he may have found his stride and confidence

Blinkers ever ? shadow roll ?

Ha! I knew you know more about horse racing than I do. I don't even know what 'shadow roll' is.

I think what he found was easier company. Didn't really take to going long with a 75. I've been trying to find something from 9 to 10 with no luck. For now I'll look between 8 and 10, and if I can't find something at those distances, I'll look longer. He will stay in claimers for now.

@Thruthefog

Shadow Roll goes right on bridle just above the ol schnoz. used like blinkers to help restrict what they see or don't see. to stop them from jumping their or other horses shadows.

10-1-1-0 $40,569

so he has won enough for Vet/Food/boarding ?

was he passing other horses that were tiring or did he actually have some closing kick to him ? 8 1/2 back at 3rd call to 3 back at finish could be either scenario. 5 length closing difference is good so long as others weren't tiring.

hard to find mile 1/8 or mile 1/4 races consistently.

He earns his keep and then some. I follow the money, so even though his ITM% sucks, he knocks down some cash when he does finish well. He earned $7,725 for his 2nd place finish. 10% of that goes to the jockey.

The winner went wire to wire. LS was the only horse closing on him in the stretch.

I didn't recall that correctly. The winner sat 1/4 length behind the front runner until the 6F pole, then took command. The front runner finished 3rd, 3 3/4 lengths behind Lions Stigma.

Thanks, @Thruthefog , for the info.

If he was still closing then there's hope. a mile 3/8 is a long race and very few can get that distance yet alone be closing.

keep us updated for future races, please, Sir.

Lions Stigma is entered in a NW2L claimer, 125k tag, in West Virginia at a mile on turf, for a purse of $30,900.

He is running in a field of seven, at the 7th post position, and he's 7/1. A tougher field than what he encountered at this level in Argentina. He runs Saturday, Saaaturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saaaturday, Saturday, Saturday, Saaaturday, Saturday nights alright.

1/4 mile - 1st - 1/2 length
1/2 mile - 1st - 1 1/4 lengths
3/4 mile - 1st - 1 3/4 lengths
finished - 3rd - 6 lengths

Busy as hell. Opened a 5th stable and going on a breeding frenzy. To give a hint as to what is going on, THE MUZZER makes his debut Monday.
