Did anybody state when. Nope... Yes I do hope it plays out that way next year. Means the Lions had depth that became a starter and a draft pick who is still contributing year two.

That should make you happy. Then guys will stop picking on Mayhew about players not developing under him and mid to late picks not panning out.

He refuses to play without a raise, you know that right? It's not as if he's forced to play, he can sit out the whole season if he wants to.

He wom't do that though. Reality will hit him that he has no leverage. Sit out, get a year older, and make no money. What does he gain by doing that? It wont increase his value. He is much better off playing his ass off...having a great season and earning himself a big raise for his last 1-3 years in the league(he will turn 32 in december). He can bellyache all he wants, at the end of the day we have a guy on the cheap who has every motivation in the world to kick ass.

One of the reports I read on him pre-draft said he was the one guy in the draft who really needed to stay in school one more year. Scouts were surprised he came out. Wonder what Austin sees in him.
Carter projects as a middle-round pick in a cornerback class lacking top-end talent in the top-100 picks. Some scouts believe he is underrated, but he is a prospect with the opportunity to move up draft boards throughout the process, possibly even into the first round.

eventually reality will kick in and he'll realize he's James Ihedigbo. Nobody is going to pay him big money, he's James Ihedigbo.

Can't wait to see how The Clown Show handles this. Unlike with Suh they have all the leverage and Ihegibo has none. If they cave in then its just another on the list of reasons why they are the worst front office in the league and why they will never deliver jack shit in success.

There is no reason to pay him. He will need to play well to get a decent contract next year from another team. Not like he lit up the league last year so sitting out will make it worse for him. We already have his replacement qued up plus we just drafted another too.

They won't pay him squat.

I'm not sure on that. The Clown Show should know that they may not get another year if they shit the bed this season. He is the best option we have so I would not at all be surprised to see them add something to his salary for 2015.

And yet he didn't.

And that allowed us to draft him as a Safety in the middle rounds instead. Shouldnt we be thankful we didnt have to use an early pick for a Safety.

I'm indifferent to the pick. Let's be serious for a moment. Levy, Warford.........what other starters have we had from guys taken in round 3 and after during the Mayhew era?

I'll be happy if he makes a special teams tackle by year 2.

Thats because later picks need developing and we had Shwartz and company in charge of that and they obviously sucked at it.

Or are you trying to blame Mayhew for not developing players too?
