Ahhh, except that our SOS is easier! LOL

According to SBNation, the Lions SOS "entering" 2014 was .497 and we had 6 teams on the schedule with winning records the prior year (which means nothing in terms of how those teams actually performed in 2014).

The SOS for this year shows as .527 and half our games are against teams with winning records.

What I was pointing out was that the Lions won 11 games against teams who finished 2014 with a combined record of 69-107. In 2011 it was 10 games against combined records of 63-97. Those would equate to SOS's of .392 and .393 respectively from those records.

Those winning teams from last year could absolutely stink this year, no way to know that. But as it stands right now anyway its a tougher schedule against better teams that we have a horrible record against. Maybe that changes this year.

The whole ranking of SOS is pointless. You cant just lump the total W/L records of teams you play and say the highest is tthe hardest and the lowest the easiest. I will not do the math again, but basically that method gives you nothing but statistical mud. Media idiots come up with that stuff and it not only does not make any sense from fundamental basis (since teams change from year to year) it is also wrong to use it that way statistically.

I dont feel as if Im defending them, I just mention other possibilities and ask people to consider other things instead of letting their emotions bring forth all the crazy things people say.

I dont look at ANYTHING like its white and black, I always believe in those grey areas. I think the majority of our statements being made here are somewhat way off with the exception of a few things.

See I'm not bashing then. I'm just stating other possible solutions to what can be done to improve.

Exactly. Also, winning teams weaken their current season SOS, and vice versa for losing teams.

Only during the off season and season. Never the post season. Mostly cause the Lions aren't usually in it.
