There will be at least one more re-structure to someone's contract before it's all said and done and by the context of that article by POD, I would assume it'll be Ragnow.

Why sign these fuckers?

The defense was garbage and they really need to keep it intact? Makes no sense.
I like the plan. The defense was terrible, but that was because outside of a few outliers the defense is made of replacement level players or worse. We have an entire defense of bridge defenders, but we need the better ones to continue to be bridges until we can up the overall talent level. Buggs and Cominsky both played solid, I would rather fill in with talent to push them off the roster than drop them out while we have even less talent than them.

They are paid like rotational pieces, now we need to add the talent to push them to that role.

Harris’ work ethic eventually made it so the Lions couldn’t keep him off the field. About midway through the season, Harris finally settled into a role he looked comfortable at: nickel cornerback. From Weeks 9 on, Harris occupied that role and earned a respectable 60.3 PFF grade over that time.

By only committing a one-year deal to Harris, he is far from guaranteed the starting nickel role for 2023 and beyond, especially when it comes to Sutton’s versatility to play any position in the secondary.

BB_72: Sutton isn't being paid 10M+ in 2023 and 2024 to play the nickel role full time. Sutton was signed primarily for the urgent now need at outside CB for the 2023 season and because Okudah isn't going to be on the Lions roster come 2024 and Jerry Jacobs may or may not make the final 53 in 2023.

The signing of Moseley - 1-year - and Sutton will still leave Holmes drafting a CB when the value appears to line up in the upcoming 2023 draft.

We’ve officially resigned Anzalone, Buggs and Cominsky now. So atleast we won’t have to worry about the defense getting much better this year.

Solved that problem.

Smitty loves to fuck with everybody.

We've been Smittie'd. Just saying.

I truly believe he is/was interested in BH signing Wagner, but Smitty is on record stating he understood having AA in a Lions uniform numerous times in 2022 and after the 2021 season. He may or may not have a disdain for the re-signing of Cominsky, but I doubt it.

We've been Smittie'd for a long time now.

I think his feelings on Buggs and Cominsky has been consistent. It's how I feel about Will Harris and Anzalone who are also both back.

Overall, I'm fine with all of these moves as a whole. I definitely would've preferred other players for certain positions but what do I know about which player(s) outside of the Lions organization last year that fits all of their criteria.

I may very well not like monies handed out to some of these players, but I certainly understand the cap position that BH is still in. If BH can continue his draft excellence and last year's drafted players and the incoming soon to be drafted players excel, then next year may be different from a free agency signing.

This is the Lions fucking with ME.

AA getting a one year deal at similar money would’ve been fine. He nearly tripled his salary though. Cominsky quadrupled his.

Don’t know what the holdup is on giving Elliot a big raise. He just tweeted he’s only hurt right now, won’t be “when it matters”.

They did add two very good corners though, so they have at least improved one area. I assume more help is coming in the draft for the line. It is clear they give no shits about linebacker play

I don't think there is a free agent at either's position that could be considered as guaranteed to be better than either of them and for the same money or even cheaper. Both Buggs and Cominsky know the scheme and players around them and that's tantamount to have success for the upcoming season. The same can be said for Will Harris.

If BH drafts any player at one of their respective positions and said player excels then the likelihood that any of Buggs, Cominsky or W. Harris returning in 2024 may be a moot point. W. Harris obviously is only on a 1-year contract so he's pretty much negated for next season unless he proves worthy of retaining, but if Cominsky or Buggs fail, and a drafted rookie makes either one of them expendable then they'll receive their walking papers.

This is bothersome to me, and I have no clue as to why they operate like this. Maybe it's more in line with the entire rebuild and how they perceive is the best way to fixing the trenches first and foremost with drafted players and lower line of paid DL, then they'll fix the LB position with a better player. IDK.

I think the lack of interest in improving the linebackers is what gets me the most.

AA plays hard af. Don’t want to take anything away from him there. But he’s not physically capable of being the best starter of a functioning group. And that’s what he’s getting paid to be.

I have nothing against Buggs and Cominsky’s effort level either, individually. I do have an issue with making them part of a foundation based on them being part of a foundation already, that was not good.

Sutton was a nice add. I’m not sure what to make of adding a guy who won’t be ready for the only camp he’s under contract for though.

Mosely is expected in camp. He is WAY better than the 6 million, but we got a deal because he is coming off the injury.

On paper they have. We'll see as the 2023 season progresses. Even if Bradberry or Dean or whoever had been signed the same would still apply in my opinion.

I didn’t know they’d brought Will Harris back.

He doesn’t get to me like he does you, but he ain’t good.

Lot of guys who haven’t made big impacts getting money to come back. And that is not what I root for.
