Wagner gone. At least for now.

  • Lions released RT Rick Wagner.
Wagner's release will save Detroit $6.1 million against the cap. The 30-year-old started 40 games across three seasons with the Lions after signing a five-year, $47.5 million contract ahead of the 2017 season. Last year was his worst season with the team, so he'll likely be signed as a low-end starter or backup option this free agency period.

At least when he was with Baltimore he was good every other year. We could have used that

So, now we're down a starting RT and a swing OT.

No. Crosby isn't a starting caliber RT.

unless your decision maker is Bob Quinn.

Be on the lookout for the former Ragin' Cajun RT Robert Hunt in the 3rd round as Wagner's replacement.

The Lions have more holes than Swiss Cheese once again.

Believe it or not! Not all Swiss Cheese has holes in it.

Pretty sure it will be addressed in FA.

Looks like the Lions sign a backup OL from Philadelphia for 5 year 50 million dollars.
His name is basically the entire alphabet, so I’m not even trying to type it

Kind of lost on why they let Glasgow walk and sign a guy who has only started 20 games in his career?!?

Maybe it’s just the Wuhan Mania talking, but I like it. Sometimes you gotta be the GM who finds that next breakout guy.

Apparently new guy rated quite well on run blocking. Lions still need another oline, unless they plan to run the right side with alphabet and crosby.

He only started 4 games in the last two years. Hopefully Quinn is right on his hunch.

Well — we got ourselves another ex-Patriot:lol: Jamie Collins signed a 3 year deal.

If a player leaves the Pats — you know Detroit will be the team signing them

We had the 3rd worst record in the league. Roster can only get better from here.

Free agency looking like a disaster so far.

5 million a year for a journeyman DL
10 million a year for a backup OL
10 million a year for a washed up Jamie Collins.

I like the OL signing. Young guy with loads of potential. Starter material. Only a back up in Philly because he was playing behind two of the best.

Not liking the DL signing. Williams is a late bloomer but only signed for 2 years. Vatai is just maturing and could be a very nice pickup. He is a Tackle though not a Guard and will most likely beat out Crosby who will probably remain the swing tackle. We still need to address our Guard issue IMO. Collins still has some gas in the tank. Had 7 sacks last year. We are desperate at LB and he will be better than C Jones. We will certainly still be drafting another one unless more FAs come in.

You were clamoring for Collins last year as a UFA signing.

Better late than never :noidea:

I like the signing of Collins.
