Detroit Lions signing DT Danny Shelton to 2-year deal
Though his first year in New England was modest, with just one start and 21 tackles in 13 game appearances, he really came into his own in 2019. Shelton started 14 of 16 games, racked up 61 tackles, 3.0 sacks and a respectable PFF grade of 71.6 (35th of 121 qualifying interior defenders).
At 26 years old, Shelton is a nice, younger option for the Lions at nose tackle, and he’s an obvious scheme fit with his success in New England. At just $4 million per year average, he’s also considerably cheaper than if the Lions had gone for a top-tier free agent nose tackle like D.J. Reader, who signed with the Bengals for an average of $13.25 million per year.
The question is — are there anymore Pats on the market? If so, they are most likely to be signed by Detroit
Looks like Flowers was just as unsuccessful at at win rate, but face more than average double teams.
You specifically asked BQ for a favor to see this through and NOW he has answered your request. lol.
Report: Detroit Lions trading for Patriots safety Duron Harmon
The Detroit Lions continue to add to their defense, and they continue to draw from the New England Patriots’ well. This time, however, they got a little creative. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Lions have traded for veteran safety Duron Harmon.
Though the direct compensation is still unclear, Rapoport calls it “a flip of late-round picks.”
The Lions will assume the final year of Harmon’s four-year $17 million contract, which includes a $3.5 million base salary for 2020 and a roster bonus of $750,000.
Hopefully BQ can at least get one of Shelton, Billings or Pierce for the NT.
Ridiculous all the same. The more I think about it, the more it bothers me. Yes, Collins is better than Kennard, let's get that out of the way. But how much better? They gave Kennard 3 yrs/$17 mil two years ago, and gave Collins 3 yrs/ $30 mil today. Kennard isn't earth-shattering, but, as was said above, he had 7 sacks in each of his first two seasons here. This past season he also had 15 hurries, 45 tackles, and a couple forced fumbles. He's definitely earned his salary. He was also elected team captain. Is it really necessary to get rid of him? We can't pay him the little $5 & change in the last year of his deal? Is it a sin to have legit depth at even one position on this team? And Collins has the versatility to move around. Kennard is still the 2nd best linebacker on the team. And, let's also remember, Collins is 30 and has injury history. But nah, we'll just dump Kennard.
WTF?
