I don't think LeBron goes anywhere if it's not Cleveland. I don't think he wants to be remembered as the guy who switched teams every time the going got tough.

IMO, it's only a matter of time before the egomaniacal LeBron goes to the Lakers in hopes of becoming a move star
after his basketball career is over.

Well, I'm all for it, he could use those passing skills to give Kobe easier buckets.

His success at drafting is far below the top GMs, Danny being one of those according to that scale. As the article points out, Mitch made one good deal in his career, the lop sided memphis deal (nearly a decade ago). They point out how little he got for Shaq, and we know how much he gave up for Dwight Rentayear howard).

I still cannot believe they gave it all up and then did not listen to his demands and they did Kobe when he was in that spot 10 years earlier. And the article does not discuss him removing Phil's deal which was also a brilliant move

Why would his success come from the drafts when the Lakers dont even focus on drafts? A lot of times, the Lakers dont even have first round picks and sometimes sell their 2nd round picks. Mitch success come with free agency and trades.

Mitch have brought us Bynum, Artest, Ariza, Odom, Gasol, Fisher, Howard and other Key players, which brought us 3 Finals and 2 Championships.

That is such a bad GM!

Rule, Mitch turned Bynum (a draft pick, his one real success) into Howard (along
with future picks) to then watch it walk away the next year. he turned multiple
picks into nothing in the end.

I think if Mitch had greater autonomy over decision-making like Danny Boy, Phil is the Lakers coach and Dwight stays. You seem to be missing the point that ownership dynamics are much different between the two teams. Mitch knows what he is doing. Jim Buss has a ways to go.

There are other ways to make lots of money in the business than being an actor.

We tried to explain this to Logicman last time. He think every decision is Mitch Mitch Mitch.

Was it Jim or Jerry Buss that hired D'Antoni? Regardless, the Lakers wanted someone a little younger a head man. D'Antoni was hired and Phil wasn't. It's time to get over it. Similar to the Pistons when they traded Billups for the first time, rebuilding was inevitable with this aging team.

Using the Pistons as an example is terrible. This rebuilding, while now finally on track, has been a horrible process. 4 coaches, mutinous players, abysmal seasons. Rebuilding does not need to be as ugly as the Pistons was. Dumars made a mistake and traded the lynchpin that held the team together instead of trading other parts for exchangeable pieces. Let me just say that Kobe would not accept being on a team that went through what the Pistons did, he would demand a trade (or retire at this point).

Ive never been one to place limits on people but he really would have a ways to go in order to be successful enough in the field to be a billionaire.

You cant have it both ways guys. If its not Mitch that bungled Dwight but ownership than Dr Buss gets the credit for those two rings as well.

If you think Mitch is acting like a professional GM than he takes the blame.

Sorry guys, but make up your mind. I guess what I am hearing is Laker ownership makes the decisions................so what use is Mitch then?

He has a ways to go to reach billionaire level in whatever endeavors he choses post-basketball. I was thinking along the lines of a production company. He has the finances to start-up something along those lines. Movies can turn a lot of profit. Of course many are financial failures as well. But you're right, he's not getting to a billion by be being an actor.

It's supposedly a collaborative effort between the two (between the three when Dr. Buss was still alive). Ultimately though, Jim Buss is making the final decisions. I think things end up differently if Mitch had final say.

How are we having it both ways? You put every negative thing on Mitch, like he have all the say so. Btw, Dr. Buss gets credit for every championship won in LA. But the difference between Dr Buss and Jim Buss, is that Dr. Buss let his GM's do their job and dont let his ego take over and make bad decisions. You should read more LA media to see why there is tension in the Lakers ownership right now. You will then learn about the big ego that Jimmy has because you seem to think Mitch is like Pat Riley and could do what he want.

I just thought Mitch was the acting GM. We were comparing Danny vs Mitch. I guess thats not a fair comparison for sure.

Hey, lets get this season started! Eager to see a healthy Rondo!
