You sir are correct.. they are "having conversations" on Uehara.. per Evan Grant lol
The toughest pill that Hamilton will have to swallow could be yet to come, writes the Chicago Tribune's Phil Rogers . Because, if Texas can free up enough cash for Prince Fielder, Hamilton might get the cold shoulder from his current club in free agency.
"Rangers fans love Hamilton and their feelings for him grew even stronger as he endured the tragedy of firefighter Shannon Stone dying in a fall after Hamilton tossed him a baseball," Rogers wrote. "But [Rangers GM Jon] Daniels isn't known for his sentimentality, and he's focused on the Rangers' long-term interest."
And Rogers says the best thing for the Rangers would be having a younger, healthier slugger on the roster. It could allow the club to let Hamilton walk as a free agent next offseason without leaving a gaping hole in the lineup. At the very least, it would give the Rangers a little more leverage.
Rogers suggests offering Hamilton a four-year contract worth $15 million a season -- a deal that Hamilton may not be able to beat, based on his age and injury history.
"The Rangers should do what it takes to get a Fielder deal with agent Scott Boras," Rogers wrote. "Fielder and Hamilton could chase a championship together in 2012, with Fielder's presence ultimately allowing Hamilton to explore the free-agent market without sending his club into crisis mode. ... Hamilton might decide he likes his comfort level in Texas. But the reality is with Fielder aboard, the Rangers wouldn't be nearly as dependent on him."

Changing gears:
Anyone listening to what Crane is saying/doing to the Astros and SO GLAD he didn't get the Rangers?
Changing the uniforms is a minor deal, but changing the team name is going to alienate a lot of long time Astro fans. However, the Astros are in dire need of an image and organization makeover and if he's going to make these changes the timing couldn't be better than with the move to a new league. Sports fans are pretty quick to forgive and adjust if they see progress. Only Cowboy fans will tolerate year after year of incompetent management.
And by management you mean ownership. Jerry needs to take a page from the Rangers current ownership. They employ what they feel are the best managers, scouts, etc. and then trust them. You're not a coach, you're not a scout, and you're not a gm Jerry.
Good thoughts Scotty. What do you think the thoughts are about resigning Cruz or not next season? I see Cruz as more risky than Hamilton going forward.

The Rangers believe they are out of the bidding for Fielder, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. Talks have accelerated and could conclude today, according to Nightengale. The Nationals appear to be the favorites to sign the first baseman.
Texas likely out of Prince Fielder free-agent derby
The Texas Rangers believe they are out out of the bidding for free-agent slugger Prince Fielder, according to a person with knowledge of the talks, but not authorized to speak publicly because of the ongoing negotiations.
Fielder met Jan. 13 with Rangers officials in Dallas, and they were among his strongest suitors.
The Rangers' likely elimination would seem to make the Washington Nationals front-runners for Fielder's services. The Nationals have courted Fielder for months and have had ongoing negotiations, but have waited patiently for the bidding process to unfold.
In recent weeks, Fielder also has been linked to the Baltimore Orioles, Miami Marlins and Seattle Mariners.
A person familiar with the negotiations, but not authorized to discuss publicly, said that talks were accelerating and could conclude today.
The Rangers, who recently committed $111 million to Japanese pitcher Yu Darvish, were attempting to sign Fielder to a deal for fewer years than agent Scott Boras wanted. Rangers CEO Nolan Ryan said recently that Fielder was seeking a deal for eight or 10 years.
Fielder, 27, who has spent his entire career with the Milwaukee Brewers, has averaged 37 homers and 106 RBI over a full 162-game season. He hit 38 homers with 120 RBI last season, and finished third in the NL MVP voting.
If the Nationals sign Fielder, the left-handed slugger likely would be placed between right-handed hitters Michael Morse and Ryan Zimmerman.

I'm at the point of the, My Tweet is Bigger than Your Tweet game that I don't care where he signs as long as he signs and we can move on. Hell, we still have time for a two month long Josh Hamilton tweet fest.
