If you swap out Harrison for Oswalt you undo alot of the good you did by getting Darvish and Fielder, colossal mistake in the long run

I disagree good sir. Oswalt is only a one or two year player, but if he is healthy he is far better than Harrison. Maybe not far, but he's got more proven ability.

Harrison is the guy with the highest upside for trade value, but he also has the most to lose if he falls flat this year. The Rangers also could use help restocking the A and AA levels. Harrison probably gets you a handful of prospects at those levels from the right team.

The Rangers have several guys at the AAA and AA level that should be ready to step into the rotation, so I don't see this is a move that would hinder the rotation long term. In fact if anything it pays dividends down the road when Feliz, Holland and Darvish hit their free agency years.

This is also assuming that Oswalt gets a good medical exam report on that back of his.

Grown men don't/shouldn't have time to be babysitters for grown men

Yeah. I get a feeling that this was a decision made by Josh and the team after all the negative press that they got. Makes sense to that it is his father in law that backs out in the announcement.

Now if we hear about someone else being hired for the job, then I'm dead wrong and Josh is killing his long term deal chances with any team. Well any serious contender. I can't imagine the Yankees, Red Sox, Phillies or any other top tier team doing something like this that might ding their image or hurt the clubhouse.

I agree. Giving a long term multi million dollar contract to guy who needs a hand holder doesn't make sense.

Hamilton resigned himself to 2-3 year deals from the moment he became a drug addict AND showed an inability to stay healthy

He's done it to himself, he killed his own long-term value

Just had a thought and didn't want to make a new thread: Why aren't there cheap teams with talented pitching in any other division?

Seems like OAK and SEA both have a reluctance to spend and a plethora of good young arms that they are willing to deal. The price doubles if Texas tries to get one of the arms, but I wish there was another team in another division willing to take so little for young-cheap arms.

Trade of whom and for what?

Here are my scenarios:

A) Announce Darvish and that is it
B) Announce Darvish and the signing of Pena, trade Harrison, Mitch, 2nd tier prospect like Lamb or Matthews to Cubs for Garza

and my way out in left field idea:

C) Announce Darvish and Fielder, announce trade of Olt and Harrison to TPA for Hellickson

the top candidates in my mind are cruz or moreland(plus prospects) if we get prince....probably for some arms

if it happens with Darvish & Prince, i think Moreland & others for a CF'er
