Letting the two best pitchers on the market walk because they are afraid of long contracts? Sounds familiar.

I know you're not talking about lee right?

You guys are crazy talking about CJ like he's burnt toast. He had a bad post season, but that somehow means you forget that he's been one of the best pitchers in baseball for two years?

Sorry man, but that's just silly.

He has been good, but he hasn't been great. For $12M i'd be ok with him having come back to Texas, but he wasn't going to stay for that money when LAA was offering the same. The sky was falling when Lee left, now it is falling when CJ left. once again I have faith that Nolan and JD know what they are doing.

No. We just know he's not an ace.

and nobody here thinks he ever was a #1 but he was the best regular season pitcher we've had the last 2 years and we really needed to keep him.

I think people are underselling what Feldman could bring to the rotation as well. When do we start hearing about Darvish?

His first starting season was similar to Ogando's. Let Ogando stretch out more, and I'd like to see what he can do.

Again, I'm not scared to roll in with a rotation of

Lewis
Ogando
Holland
Harrison
Feliz/Feldman

He just posted and rumors are it will take $40M just to talk to him.

Should be posted later today... That said, Rangers are saying that they arent willing to gamble $100 million on Darvish...

How long will it be before they make their selection? If he's as good as advertised I'd spend that to talk to him.

I think we're also underselling how good Holland is too. 9-1 3.06 after the AS break, 4 complete game shutouts on the year and almost made it 5 in the WS. He will clearly be better than CJ next year

The two best 30+ year old pitchers in a very, very weak market.

And who did they add instead? Who will step in to fill the 16 win gap left by CJ? Nefti? It's a joke what they've allowed to go down with this rotation over what amounts to $35 million. That's money that would EASILY be made up in playoff and merchandise revenues.

I agree. I really think both ogando and holland will be better next year. Holland will be Texas' true homegrown ace.

People forget just how good ogando was before he got tired.

Tired or the league figured out he had 1 1/2 pitches? I think the latter is more of the reason for his second half struggles. Harrison rebounded because he has more than a fastball to go to. Ogando had a bump and then fell off again when it counted most. The kid might have another solid year, but I wouldn't count on it if I was trying to beat the Angels rotation over 162 games.
