LOL oh ok. No one can say Adams isn't putting everything he has into his throws.

The Rangers acquired lefty Kelvin De La Cruz from the Indians, tweets Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. The Indians received cash considerations, tweets MLB.com's Jordan Bastian. De La Cruz was designated for assignment a week ago to open a 40-man roster spot for Casey Kotchman. The Rangers currently have an open 40-man spot they can use for De La Cruz.

By acquiring him are they obligated to put him on the 40 man right now, or can they put him in AAA right now and move him up later if need be??

I'm not sure, but the report I read sai he has held lefties to a .143 average.

Since he was on someone else's 40 man roster...he will have to be placed on the 40 man of the Rangers. Only way off of it is to clear league wide waivers I believe...

Looks like the Rangers and LA Angels ESPN message boards have been deleted.

Yea ... TEX would have to DFA him then trade or release him within 10 days ... which is how TEX got him from CLE.

He got bounced off the 40man to make room for Kotchman. Am sure he was bummed out ... then gets a call from his manager who tells him he's been traded to TEX instead of being released. Wonder how many other CLE pitchers were glad they didn't get DFA'd ... and then De La Cruz gets the ax and ends up on TEX 40man. Need this guy to go buy us lottery tickets right now.

Wonder how Mike Gonzalez feels right about now with TEX 40man full?

Also reading CLE media ... they signed our buddy Christian Guzman to a minor league deal yesterday. Still can't believe TEX wasted 2 AA SPs to get him from WAS in 2010.

Careful there Watch, that thought process could get trumped in the near future by the Mike Adams deal.

Looks like the Rangers have decided to hang on to Uehara.

Wieland and Erlin were probably never going to make it into the big league rotation. They got one of the premier set up men in baseball for them and much needed bullpen depth. Still a good deal in my book.

that assumption is just absurd, both guys were some of our better starting pitching prospects

Am I against the trade? not really but the price was a little on the high side, but to say neither guy was going to make it is just ridiculous

I've been following Rangers baseball for a long time and I don't recall Texas having two prospects, much less one, with the pitching stats that these two compiled through AA baseball. That's why have a hard time with the thought that these two didn't project as starters in a Texas rotation or that Texas gave up to much to get Adams.
From what I read both are ranked 5 & 6 ( B+) pitching prospects in the Padres farm system.

With the youth of Holland, Harrison, Feliz, Perez, Ramirez etc. do you really think either of those guys would've been mainstays in the Texas rotation going forward? Those guys were always going to be trade pieces IMO.
