Here's the complete article being mentioned....

1. Arizona Diamondbacks trade LF Gerardo Parra to the Detroit Tigers for OF Andy Dirks, UT Don Kelly and LHP Andy Oliver

After signing free agent Prince Fielder and announcing that Miguel Cabrera will move back to third base, the Tigers have basically admitted that their corner-infield defense will take a step back in 2012 and beyond. To compensate, the Tigers should look to upgrade their defense elsewhere. Left fielder Delmon Young does not come in on the ball well and is an overall poor defender.

After signing Jason Kubel this winter, the D-backs have a surplus of outfielders and could use Parra to bring in some depth. Dirks would replace Parra as a fourth outfielder while Oliver would be a typical Kevin Towers buy-low type of move. The scouting reports have always been good, and he has struck out almost a man per inning in his minor league career.

With Parra, outfield defense would suddenly be a strength for the Tigers, as center fielder Austin Jackson is a future Gold Glover. Detroit could then move Young to DH to replace Victor Martinez. It might seem weird to have Young as a DH on a team that features Cabrera and Fielder in the field, but we know that Delmon can't play the infield.

2. Texas Rangers trade LHP Martin Perez to the Minnesota Twins for CF Denard Span

The Twins are desperate to rebuild their rotation, and Perez should develop into a front-line starter. The Twins could then move Ben Revere to center field and put free-agent signee Josh Willingham in left.

From the Rangers’ perspective, this would allow them to move Josh Hamilton to left field and improve their defense in center. Span also would give them a legitimate leadoff hitter and a better chance to win the World Series now than if they waited for Leonys Martin to develop.

As an added bonus, Span is signed at a reasonable cost through 2015, which makes him far more valuable to a contender than he is to the Twins, a club that is in a bit of a rebuilding period. The Rangers are deep in rotation candidates, so Perez is expendable.

3. Los Angeles Angels trade Mark Trumbo to the Tampa Bay Rays for RHP Wade Davis

With the recent signing of Albert Pujols and Kendrys Morales projected to be healthy enough to be a full-time DH, Trumbo is now expendable.

The Angels could use Davis as their fifth starter, replacing Jerome Williams, or they could put Davis in the back of their bullpen to pair with closer Jordan Walden, giving them two arms that have the potential to shut down the game’s best lineups.

The Rays signed Carlos Pena to a one-year deal but are still looking for that non-arbitration eligible long-term solution at first base. The Rays have enough pitching depth to deal Davis. While Trumbo's not a high-OBP guy, he did hit 29 homers as a rookie and the power is real. Of course, Trumbo is still recovering from a foot injury, so no deal would happen until it heals. The Rays could also wait until July and trade for first-base prospect C.J. Cron, the Angels’ first-round pick from last June, who profiles to be another 30-home run bat. Regardless, the match is there.

4. New York Yankees trade Dellin Betances and Austin Romine to the Los Angeles Dodgers for OF Andre Ethier

Ethier is eligible for free agency after this season and this deal would have to be contingent on the Yankees signing him to a long-term deal. That said, as a left-handed pull hitter with power, he is a perfect fit for Yankee Stadium, and he and Nick Swisher could share right-field/DH duties, with Alex Rodriguez also getting some reps at DH.

From the Dodgers’ perspective they get a future middle-of-the-rotation starter in Betances and solve their long-term catching situation with Romine. Dodgers GM Ned Colletti has had a busy offseason satisfying the game’s senior citizens with deals and signings that include: Mark Ellis, Matt Treanor, Adam Kennedy, Jerry Hairston Jr., Chris Capuano and Aaron Harang. For Colletti to secure his job with the new incoming Dodgers ownership, he needs to make some deals that improve the long-term outlook of the club.

5. St. Louis Cardinals trade RHP Shelby Miller, OF Jon Jay and 3B Zack Cox to the Baltimore Orioles for CF Adam Jones

New Orioles GM Dan Duquette has made it clear to rebuild the Orioles he needs to start with the rotation. Miller gives the Orioles a potential front-of-the-rotation starter to go with Zach Britton, top pitching prospect Dylan Bundy and Brian Matusz (should he recover from his disastrous 2011 season). Jay can take over for Jones in center field, and Cox could become their long-term solution at third base, eventually playing next to shortstop Manny Machado, the Orioles' best position-player prospect.

The Cardinals get the pure center fielder they’ve been looking for in Jones and continue to help offset the loss of Pujols. Their starting rotation depth is good, and the farm system is loaded with arms, so giving up Miller, though painful, is the price to pay for player of Jones’ caliber. He will be a free agent following the 2013 season, so it's possible the Cards wouldn't have to part with so much quantity for his services; however, they would need to give up Miller, one of the game's top pitching prospects, and the key to this trade.

Span would give us a legitimate leadoff hitter? Has this guy ever heard of Ian Kinsler?

Article from David Schoenfield

Adam Jones: In his ESPN Insider piece Insider comparing Yoenis Cespedes to other young center fielders, Kevin Goldstein wrote, "Jones' 2011 campaign generated considerable buzz in the industry. 'He's just starting to take steps forward,' said an American League scout.'" Really? He posted a .785 OPS; in 2009, he posted a .792 OPS. His walk rate was 4.5 percent as a rookie in 2008; it was 4.7 percent last year. His extra-base hit percentage was basically the same as its always been. Defensively, he rates from subjective "highlight-reel spectacular" to more objective "the defensive metrics don't think he's all that." I'm not a scout, but statistically, he's been the same player for three years. Regardless, here's the bottom line: A guy with a .319 on-base percentage cannot be the centerpiece of your lineup.

I've been saying almost the same thing for a while now

His numbers were .333/.424/.667 last year, where's this guy getting his stats from?

The Cubs have signed Cuban left-hander Gerardo Concepcion to a contract, reports Jorge Ebro of El Nuevo Herald (via Twitter). Concepcion is represented by Jaime Torres.

Concepcion, 18, established residency in Mexico in mid-January and was declared a free agent last week. Several teams were interested in the young southpaw, including the Blue Jays, Giants, Phillies, Rangers, Red Sox, Royals, White Sox and Yankees. Torres recently said Concepcion had received as many as 10 contract offers.

The signing is a nice win for Jed Hoyer and Theo Epstein in their quest to rebuild both the Cubs' minor league system and their Latin American scouting and development systems. The Cubs have also been linked to two other major Cuban free agents this winter, Yoenis Cespedes and Jorge Soler.
