Mahomes, Burrow, Allen and Lamar all have what it takes to get their team to a Super Bowl. Problem is there's only one AFC slot each year.

(Nix and Stroud might crash that party soon, too.)
A loaded AFC

Stroud is already there imo.

Texans lost the game on special teams and oline. Stroud played well in the playoffs this year.
Stroud has to get better at overcoming weaknesses on his team in order to hit that tier. "Playing well" isn't enough. I think he'll get there, though.

This playoffs, for the most part, have shown that QBs who try to do too much get burned. I'd put that more on the Texans coach.

The bad snap and it being a busted play wasn't his fault but the fumble certainly was.

Lamar had ample time to be able to protect the ball despite the high snap and he just got a little careless with the ball when trying to escape Hamlin.

The fumble was,but to Lamars credit,he is used to making big plays out of nothing.....

I agree he could have just tucked the ball in and took the loss, but he was still fighting to make a play.....

The snap didn't help the timing of the play........he pretty much had to start to scramble before he got complete composure.....oh well, would have loved to see Lamar win.....

The only way Lamar will ever win a SB is if the Ravens surround him with so much talent that even he can't fuck it up. Like the Broncos did with Elway.

This is a good one. Now tell us one about the Lions.

The only way the Lions will ever win a SB...

Quite possibly the greatest regular season QB in history.

Can't win when it really matters.

He is still ridiculously young at 28 years old, and has to have huge trade value.

Should the Ravens punt and reset?

If the goal of any franchise is to win a Super Bowl, I just can't see how Baltimore gets it done with Lamar as their QB.

OP has a point

Lamar has now lost 6 matchups where he was the clear favorite.

I will say last game wasn't really his fault in any way, but you can't just ignore the fact that he keeps choking as the favorite

Don't expect many on here to agree with you tho. People think my Tampa team should keep old Baker-mid field just because he made the playoffs in the weakest division in football lol

Nah Lamar may have his occasional warts, like anybody, but he is playing a lot better than he has in previous years. Especially in Dec/Jan. Having Henry in the building takes a lot of that pressure away, but he's right where he needs to be. Baltimore would have to be incredibly stupid to trade him.

There was an accumulation effect that hurt them early. Missed assignments & drops. But it mostly boils down to the turnover battle. You cannot expect to win a playoff game whilst handily losing this. They gave the ball to the Bills on 3 occasions & still battled enough to put them in position to tie the game. That takes a lot of heart.

But I take absolutely nothing away from the Bills. They did everything they needed to do to win. That was a helluva battle.

I'm not really even sure what 6 matchups he is talking about.
I'd argue losing 2018-2020 was bad. Derrick Henry could knock anyone out on a good day but thats not a good stretch. That said, we're talking ancient history here for someone who has gotten better every year.

Loss against the Chiefs and Bills both 50/50 games.

Build a #1 defense in the league so Goff can just manage a game.

The Lions were bad enough to accumulate some high end players and they've drafted well enough that its very much in the realm of possibility.

I do think we should be fair here with respect to the D. I've said more times than I care to admit that injuries should never be an excuse for winning/losing games, mainly because just about every team gets hit with them so often. But in Detroit's case, their D was particularly decimated by the time they faced Washington. At full strength, they're likely still not a top tier defense, which is why I like your first sentence so much. Still, it could very well have been good enough to get them over the top when factoring in their incredible offense.

Right...those are his 5 playoff years.

2018 - He was a rookie with 7 starts under his belt. I'm going to give him a pass for that game.
2019 - He had over 500 total yards (crazy), but too many mistakes.
2020 - Not much to say. Simply not good enough.
2023 - Not bad, but again...not good enough.
2024 - Played well in 2nd half, but too many mistakes in first half.

Last two years...losses against SB champ at home and tough Bills team on road. I'm not writing him off yet.

Gonna go out on a limb that a playoff loss to Buffalo in Buffalo is not worth a meltdown. Not Lamar's fault his teammates have played like morons and the AFC is stacked.
Exactly this.

If not for KC and Buffalo.....Baltimore would have been to multiple SB's already.
