all 6, but who's counting. what really counts in those losses is a total of 5 goals scored by the pens in those 6 games, no more than 2 in any game.

ok so it had nothing to do with kovalchuk then. i was not sure what happened in those games. i know he did not prevent goals.

Maybe this delay is a result of something bigger going on. New Jersey would have to clear some cap space to make this happen. They have about 3.7 million dollars in cap space at the moment, and they only have 10 forwards signed on for next season.

Could this be the mark of a monster trade?

sign and trade?

15 teams in a conference. Edmonton might again be a lottery team, but, the other four lottery spots may go out East.

We can keep track of the h2h record between East vs West this season if you like. I don't mind. :):):)

i really do not care if the basement teams in the west beat the basement teams in the east.

considering there are indeed basement teams, hard to call an entire conference "stacked", isn't it? The Atlantic may be stacked (well, 3 out of 5 teams anyway, not a slight, easily the most stacked division) but other than Washington and Boston, the other 8 teams in the NE and SE probably aren't going to be a factor.

I said at the Swamp that I could see Marty finishing his career on a newer team. I specifically said the Thrashers. Unfortunaley I don't recall "booking it" OR "banking it"

carolina is a good team. they just got injured last year. also, the lightning finally have a goalie and i think they could be a good team.

Still have Florida, Atlanta, Islanders, Rangers, Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal, and Buffalo to account for. That's more than half a conference, by the way.

Yes, Pittsburgh, Philly, Jersey, Boston, and Washington look good. But that's 1/3 of a conference. Yes, that top 1/3 is stacked.

EDIT: Come to think about it, there may be even more distance between the top third and the bottom third in both conferences this year. The good teams getting better out East doesn't really help Atlanta.

ya i think the east looks stronger this year than last.. but you have to remember the central had 3 teams over 100 pts last season in nashville, detroit, and chicago.. phoenix was the 4 seed so you cant count them out, they retained wolski and still have bryz.. plus they added cullen..

its a tough prediction because the east itself didnt really get stronger.. the already strong got stronger.. aside from the flyers, pens, and we'll see about the devils, who else got any better?

sens = push if you wanna be generous
caps = push, haven't done anything
rags = push, boogard for shelley
isles = slight up for them being young and getting better
sabres = down (tallinder, lydman gone)
canes = down (corvo, whitney gone)
thrashers = push (nothing)
leafs = push (nothing?)
panthers = push (nothing?)
habs = down (price sucks)
bruins = up, maybe (seguin, alright theres 1 other team)
TB = push (added a backup goalie)

I thought it was a minor miracle that four teams from the NE made the playoffs last year. I don't think it'll happen this year.

and the west has the blue jackets, blues, flames (remind me of the rangers), oilers, wild, and stars.

as for the east, i think buffalo and montreal are both good teams. i think they are both better than the avalanche.

Again, there are h2h East vs West records to go by. Well, wasn't much of a contest last year, to be honest.

Got paypal? Want to bet a little something something for the h2h battle this year? Why wouldn't you, the East is supposedly stacked.....AND has a cushy travel schedule.

Did someone in this thread actually say the east was stacked??

I said that the Atlantic is stacked, and possibly the toughest division in the NHL, but I don't recall seeing anyone say the East is stacked...

was i the one who said they were stacked? no. i just think they can compete with the west. aside from the basement teams in the conferences who do not make much of a difference anyway, the top teams in the east got better while some of the top teams in the west got worse. does the entire conference play for the cup? no.

also, think of it this way, a top team in the east will beat a basement team in the east or west. in head to head though, the basement team in the west might beat the basement team in the east. so head to head really means nothing. does it matter if the caps can beat and east team 4-1 and a west team 4-2?
