Depending on how the race out West shapes up, Antoine Vermette or Andy McDonald would look pretty good in a Kings uni.

I am thinking that the Kings will be idle or do something minor. This is not a cup run year. Doughty still has to be signed. I think the team we see now is the team we will see in April (even if it is only the first part).

Now if they do make a splash I am guessing Penner may end up in LA. I don't think the Kings would give up roster players (maybe a minor one) but if the Oilers would take prospects and/or picks and/or a third liner.

Another thing the Kings will have to make are some roster moves when Sturm returns. Kings could send Loktionov back down to Manchester, since Sturm will most likely end up back on the first line. The other part of this is also when Parse comes back. It will be interesting to see who gets send back to the minors, who the Kings acquire & who would get waived.Westgarth, a waste of a roster spot, how'd he get a spot in training camp? Send him back to the minors.

If Penner or Hemsky don't want to re-sign with Edmonton then by all means they should trade them and not lose them for nothing, but other than that they should do everything necessary to keep good players. Yeah Hall and Eberle could fill their roles, but who takes their spot? You can't just keep getting drafts picks year after year and expect great things. Unless Oiler fans want to wait 3-4 MORE years to be a playoff contender. Example Atlanta Thrashers have had 5 top two picks and basically have shit to show for it.
