I read it's 18 million/year because it's an extension and you have to count this year. With NFL salaries only going up and the salary cap going up, this deal won't look too bad as long as he makes even just modest progress. Every team will have more salary cap room and I imagine that other QB's will be getting over 20 million/year. If Kaepernick does reasonably well this upcoming season, you can bet that there would be a handful of teams offering him a huge contract.

And THAT is the kicker. You just locked him up early, before you had to, and have no idea if he can even make the next step. You could have made it through this year, and then tagged him if you had to and saved money. That's two years to find out what he's got between the ears.

It's great that he wrote himself a letter saying he would be a QB and he can throw a fastball, but can he find the second option before he tucks tail and runs. He won't have those legs in a couple of years, and then what's he gonna do? At least Vick/McNabb/McNair/Young could all actually play the QB position.

honestly with the way QB contracts are being done nowadays. There is probably only 3 or 4 QBs resigning a huge contract that there wouldn't be scrunity. I think QB contracts in general are way out of hand.

Cant argue with people that can't understand facts or don't believe in Facts. He is a top 10 QB that is young and already has done a lot in his young career. Pay the guy. Plus he helped the team by only taking 12 million in signing bonus.

I will admit that he does have to win a super in these next 7 years. If not then u can say it was a Bust to sign him to this amount. As of right now he earned it.

At least I stick by my teams. I don't leave them when they lose or give credit when they have a good season. By you saying he hasn't done anything just proves my point. Going to the Super Bowl and 2 NFC championship games in 2 years is a great achievement.

So is winning a SB, but you don't have a problem belittling Wilson for that...and he actually did something with his defense led team.

Ah, so if I post numbers that are pretty well cherry picked...that makes fact? Are you new to stats?

I agree....... for the team. You act like they did it because of Kap. Who knows if Alex Smith doesn't miss a game & get replace by Kap maybe the niners have a superbowl win :noidea: :becky:

Cowboy fans the most clueless football fans ever. Have fun with Tony "Choke" Romo. Have fun paying him all that money for nothing. Kap has already done more then Romo and he has only been starting for 1 1/2 years. LOL No wonder they are pissed, they are still looking for a QB after all these years. I would hate when another team signed or re signed a Top 10 QB.

Only time will tell if it was too early. Every contract is a gamble. Kaepernick looks like a good gamble right now because he's a hard worker. Also, he might already be a better QB than the first three guys you mentioned. Higher passer rating, at least, than those guys.

As far as the franchise tag, I'm not sure how great it is to use it on a QB. First of all, it's really high for a QB (over $16 million) and secondly, you want continuity and stability at the position. Plus, you don't want to have a bad relationship with arguably your most important player. Finally, if you have your QB locked down, you can use the franchise tag on someone else if you really have to. I don't think the Niners like using the franchise tag. I don't think they used it for this upcoming season.

How I said he will get more money then Kap because of it. Seattle team was awesome last year. I hate Seattle but I have to give credit when credit is due. Wilson is a good game manager. Nothing wrong with that.

All I know is if Kap had played for the Cowboys the last couple years, we wouldn't even have sniffed an 8-8 record.

Atleast you cant call us Bandwagon fans. (although we often hear that anyways)

I'd be interested on how/why and when you became a FAN of each of your favorite teams.
