Just finished this a dew minutes ago. Anyone else finish the show find the finale very anticlimactic? Great show, just extremely disappointed in the ending. It wasn’t HIMYM or Dexter bad, just like... meh?

I just started watching today. About 3 eps in. I been wanting to watch this one since about mid-way into S1, but I was never able to get to past eps, so I waited.

Season 1 starts off slow. I will say that it is a bit of a grind to get past it.

I think that the only bad season is season four. Seasons two and three are fantastic.

Not a bad season, just some are better.

I may have to rewatch.

Just finished S3 last night.

So far I am a bit underwhelmed by the show. It’s good, but nothing amazing. It doesn’t hold a candle to The Shield, for example. My expectations may have been too high, though. I have been excited to watch this show since about midway into S1.

And I messed up and read the quick episode synopses for S4. Damn. They spoil EVERYTHING in those synopses. I know about a major character death and who the big mystery person is. Can’t they even TRY to be semi-vague in those things???

Season 4 is heavy on the Wynn Duffy, which is not at all a bad thing.

Almost done with S6.

Great job with Mikey in S6. He was furniture before S6 and he really stepped up and was a BOWSE at the end...

I didn’t, I thought the ending conversation between Raylan and Boyd was great.

This. Season 2 is where the show really becomes itself.

After a second watch, I think Season 3 and Season 6 are the two best seasons because those seasons take what is built in the previous seasons and bring interweaves all of the complex relationships. Season 4 works as a bridge between 3 and 5 while 5 is really just there to set all of the characters back.

This is definitely one of my favorite TV shows. There are at least a dozen well-written characters.

I still think Season 2 was the best. Mags Bennett was the best big bad (outside of Boyd)

Season 2 is definitely the most important season. The show doesn't work without Harlan.

Big bad ranking?

1. Boyd
2. Wynn Duffy and Mikey
3. Limehouse
4. Mags Bennett
5. Robert Quarles
6. Choo Choo and the Jarheads
7. Drew Thompson
8. Nicky Augustine and the Detroit mafia
9. Boon
10. The Crowes
11. The Female Prison Inmates
12. Colt
13. Avery and Catherine
14. Bo Crowder
15. The Mexican Cartel

I'll leave Arlo unranked because he was intentionally underdeveloped because Raylan needed to figure everything out on his own.

goddamn I loved me some Wynn Duffy. That character was so damn good.

and I would separate Dewey Crowe from the Crowe family because Dewey was his own entity.

and I would add Raylan's dad.

I'm still on season 1. It's a good show so far. Acting is top tier.

Natalie Zea is not hard to look at. One of my favorite sort of unknown hotties in show business.

I think Arlo is really important for setting up Raylan's character. In the show, he is just a basic foot soldier criminal like the Mexican cartel members but its how he is developed in other ways that makes him interesting. He gets dementia. Raylan later goes into his study thinking he'll find all of these terrible secrets but there is nothing there. This really ties into other characters mentioning to Raylan how he remembers previous events wrong that involve his father and it kinda hints that he is probably going to either be obsessed with his dad for the remainder of his days or possibly suffering from dementia as well. This ties into the epilogue a bit where Raylan is basically just a bachelor who keeps family at a distance and doesn't really seem to have any friends outside of work. Its not hard for Boyd to believe that Ava is gone because he probably thinks Raylan is a totally broken man with nothing better to do than to talk to Boyd. There is more to it than that but Arlo is an important piece in the main story.
