If we sign a FA then who ever we draft or Patton won't get much playing time at all..

Crabtree-Boldin-FA-Draft WR-Patton

We don't run 4 WR or 5 WR set.. Patton needs to play.. Unless we are planning on dealing Crabtree

I think it's more of a question of letting Crabtree walk next year and knowing that Boldin is soon to be gone.

We still need WRs anyway. We can't go into the year with say Crabs, Boldin, Patton, Baldwin and we prolly resign Osgood cuz he is a beast on special teams. If someone went down knock on wood it doesn't happen we would be fucked again. That's why I think we need 2 more WRs maybe 3 if Baldwin doesn't make the team.

I agree. I am just making a point that getting s lot guy is not that helpful in the current offense the Niners run. If they make some much needed changes, then it could be a good pick up. I still would like to see Patton in the slot though. I would have actually liked to see Kyle Williams in that spot.

I would hate to see a WR we draft in the first or 2nd round not get playing time or Patton not get playing time

Someone has to be the #4 or #5 WR and that's either Patton or the rookie WR we draft.

So if drafted a WR in the first round you would be ok with him being the #5 WR and not playing the whole year unless an injury happens?

No if we draft a WR in the 1st round I would expect him to be our #3 WR and that would mean Patton drops back to #4. That's just going off us not picking up a WR on FA.

If we did say pickup Sanders and draft a WR in the 1st I would expect them to fight for the #3 spot while Patton prolly dropped down to our #5.

Crabs,Boldin and Patton would be a good three set when healthy. Crabs is a FA in 2015 and Boldin will most likely be done in 2016. I haven't heard of any talks to keep Crabs as 9er beyond his contract. That leaves some holes in the WR area....not to mention that we always seem to be short at the position every year. I'm really hoping that Patton will be what I think he can be but we still need more as history tells us. If we draft a WR in the first round my pick would be Evans. I think he could jump up for those Kap darts. If I had to pick a FA WR at this moment it would be Sanders.

Nicks is in the building in Indy. I bet they sign him before he leaves.

That's fine, I expect the Pats to sign Edelman leaving us and KC for Sanders

1m Patriots free-agent WR Julian Edelman is scheduled to visit the 49ers on Friday, per source. SF also interested in Giants WR Hakeem Nicks.

I like Edelman but he needs a QB who can throw him open. Someone who sees the field, understands coverages and knows where to put the ball. Kaepernick is not that guy.

I think he's got a point in this limited area. No way Edelman is nearly as effective on the Niners as he was on the Pats.

I don't think he would get 100 catches, different systems but him or sanders would be great in the slot
