Richardson or Jimmy?

I like Josh.

But, Jimmy is better.

Jimmy is also older and wants 40 mil plus per.

Josh is on a reasonable deal.

What do you want to see happen?

I prefer to keep Josh. Jimmy is taking us anywhere outside of the 2nd round.

Plus there's no guarantee that he signs back

Agree with the first part.

But, I think he stays in South Beach, Philly etc.

Dude wants that 5 year deal.

So, unlike Kawhi, getting paid might trump preferred location and winning ala Deron Williams and Carmelo Anthony.

tahts the thing about Butler

id prob give Butler 30M a year for like 3-4 years--- but a huge 4 year like 160M dollar deal gets a lil dicey.

He has some Thibs miles on him and his game relies on athleticism quite a bit.

I think an offer of Winslow, a first, and Whiteside for Butler and Dieng would be intriguing for the Twolves. You get Butler's replacement- get rid of Diengs longer contract for Whiteside who you can pair with Towns in the front court- and get a semi interesting pick - that while its not going to be a high pick, does have some potential upside if things dont go right in Miami

The contrarian in me wants to throw out CJ McCollum, Lou Williams etc.

* which in pointing that out, I kinda did *

But, the non-asshole part of me knows those are exceptions and that you are correct.

How dare you.

:tsk:
i dunno- i kind of agree with you to an extent- there are certainly plenty of guys that play the 2 that couldnt play the 3- like as you said- McCollum, Lou Will, Korver on the Cavs, I def. think of DeRozan as a 2 and not as a guy that can or does play the 3, Oladipo i think of as primiarly a 2 though i guess he COULD get away with the 3 but at 6' 4" he is solidly positioned as a 2, Malik Monk- if he ever develops into anything is nothing but a 2- certainly not a 3, Bradley Beale is a pure 2 without a doubt, Devin Booker the same, Buddy Hield a pure 2, Harden (though more of a cross of a 1 and 2), Joe Ingles is DEF not a 3, Gary Harris aint no fucking 3 lol,

There are just as many guys who are protoypical shooting guards as there are guys that are rangy enough to play the 2 and 3 it seems to me.

I'd take Jimmy. But you're not going to win a title with Butler as your best player. As your 2nd best, maybe.

Whiteside would need to spun somewhere else.

The Twolves collected way too many centers as it is.

Suns and Kings are interested in eating a contract.

But, I think it will be Dieng.

Which is why I don't really see a great path for Miami to get Butler.

They need someone to take Whiteside, who has value, but not to Minnesota.

They'd likely have to get a 3rd team involved.

It would be complicated.

But, possible.

Sacto can absorb 11 mil without sending anything back.

The Suns and Kings are willing to eat a long-term bad contract for a pick, while sending back expiring deals.

Yeah, but moving both Dieng and Whiteside in the same deal is some kind of complicated.

Well, the biggest hurdle is that they both are lumbering Centers.

I don't see Cauley-Stein as a long-term solution as the starting 5, unless you surround him with elite shooters.

So, maybe the Kings would want Whiteside back or to take a flyer on Dieng.

The Suns, not so much.

They have Ayton, Tyson Chandler and Bender.

So, I agree that this makes a deal with Miami tough.

You are right.

But, as lineups seem to get smaller and smaller every year, those rangy guys are playing more and more 4. And the guys "who can't play 3" end up in occasional small ball lineups where they are the 3. Because the opponent either has a non-threat like Andre Roberson, or they have a similarly small player there.

I am not talking about starting lineups. Those still tend to be closer to traditional. But mid game and finishing lineups often end way smaller than the starting 5.

The Lakers really do have, like, ALL the NBA knuckleheads on one team. It's gonna be really entertainingly bananas.
