He's #6 all time in hits, #1 all time postseason.

This is a stupid thread.
He was consistent.

Jeter is absurdly overrated for much the same reason Cal Ripken is. Consistently mediocre for a long, long time.

Along with that Jeter had the benefit of being a media darling in NY.

Someone asked to name 25 ss better than Derek Jeter. I don't have the time or interest to do that but do you honestly think someone couldn't?

Arguably, Derek Jeter was never even the best player on his own team.

Jeter played 254 games less than Ripken, but yet amassed 281 more hits.

Other than that, good comparison.

A-Rod was the best SS on that team

Would all those singles and strikeouts be as impressive if he'd played third?

I wasn't comparing them; only pointing out how absurdly overrated they were.

They were overrated. And consistent. You can't argue either.

But no, Ripken doesn't belong in the same conversation.

Jeter reaches on a Baltimore chop.

"Another masterful piece of hitting by Jetes."

I give him a bump for playing shortstop. But as far as the hall of fame I think he would be going in even as an outfielder just because of the 3,000+ hits. Ichiro will probably get in too and he had way less pop than Jeter as a corner outfielder.

He also was the best contact hitter of his generation and one of the best defensive outfielders.

Ichiro was a far superior player imo.

I think I'm just more tolerant of strikeouts than you .

The Jeterettes used to say he would strike out on purpose rather than risk hitting into a double play

"team player"

that's actually a good strategy if you're playing with "calling on the mound" and the next batter is really good.

Very smart starting out with Jeter. When it is finally determined that he was not good enough to play short he can sue A-Rod for blocking him at third. Or maybe Jeter could just do the right thing and have his staff send him one of those gift baskets they give out to people who visit his mansion.

Wow, after reading more I love this guy. He's also sued the Reds and Ricky Proehl's training camp for not getting him tryouts in the NFL.

Also this:
(After the Yankees released Lassiter, he redshirted at quarterback for University of Miami, never appearing in a game. Lassiter said Miami kicked him out of the program in 2014 for rallying the team and asking head coach Al Golden to make him the starter.)

Finally, Lassiter wanted another $5.6 million to cover for a basketball career he never had.

New York Yankees stars Derek Jeter and Jorge Posada are beloved by their fans for their dedication to the game and their team, but they also might have been dedicated to each other, claims a new book, written by Paul Priore and co-author Gary Toushek.

Jeter and Posada had sex in a sauna at Yankee Stadium in 1995, the former team equipment manager asserts in a new book, according to Radar Online and Vibe. The author then says Posada let Priore perform oral sex on them so he wouldn’t speak about what he saw.
