I am a Red Sox fan. Derek Jeter played for the same team his entire career, letting his actions speak on the field. I find him to be the type of player I respect as much as any player I've seen over the 50 years I have enjoyed loving this game. His feats IMO warrant major acceptance to the HOF and his win for the team attitude along with the way he played the game and is non-showboating-doing-my-job manner seals the deal as a 1st time ballot HOFer.

The problem is that he's just not that good. You can't let him in on attitude, which, in my opinion, you're giving him a little more credit than he deserves.

Not sure if he's top 10, but hes absolutely top 25. His defense may have sucked, but he was still one of the best offensive shortstops of all-time and a very good baserunner.

That's not exactly a strike against him. His "clutch" is overblown (especially with way A-Rod was bashed when his postseason OPS was only 16 points lower), but to have an .838 OPS over 158 postseason games (as a shortstop) is still very good. That's an extra All-Star caliber season.
