good for Pau and I'd root for him to get another ring whilst turning down the big pay day...

Monroe wouldn't be a bad replacement in terms of D but limited on offense compared to Pau

With Kobe, Swaggy, etc. I don't think offense is going to be an issue. Also, Monroe is young and can learn. His defense would be invaluable and prevent the layup lines we saw so often last year.

I agree with pretty much all of this. I doubt he's a future piece either. But in the meantime, he's fun to watch and we get that pick.

I hope the Lakers keep Nash around to mentor him, Marshall and Clarkson. If he can improve and earn a longer deal, great. If not, we lose nothing and gain that pick. Win for the Lakers no matter what.

Agreed.

Might be Boozer if Lakers sign and trade Pau for Boozer and picks

I wouldn't want to move Kobe to SF anyway, my dream scenario for this season as of right now is Monroe, Randle, Ariza, Kobe and Lin.

Ariza would bring much needed perimeter defense.

We still need to wait for Melo, but it looks bleak. Monroe or Gasol, and Melo or Ariza - and we are set:

Lin
Kobe
Ariza/Melo
Randle
Pau/Monroe

'Melo coming is pretty much down to 0% right now and Pau already turned down 2 years $20 mil from the Lakers. I'd like to see them get Ariza and/or Monroe though.

Bazemore is in the fold. I'd like to see Monroe, Ariza, and Xavier Henry and maybe Ryan Kelly if there's room.

Again, I think Lin is going to surprise some people especially if B. Scott is the next coach. Lin just may have a comeback of sorts-maybe.

both would mean cherry on top

how are they going to get them...someone correct me if im wrong...but what ive seen is after the nick young and Jordan hill deals along with Jeremy lin trade that there isn't much room for anything but minimum deals

Hopefully the Lakers are just good enough to where we get their pick (top 5 protected) but not good enough to be a top 10 seed in the West. That would be beautiful.

Good move by LA though, Lin kinda sucks but adding the draft pick for nothing was a good way to take advantage of a team that needed to clear cap space.

Best case: You are right, B. Scott coaches him up, he has his come back and we have that 1st round pick.

Worst case: He sucks, the Lakers let him go after the season is over and we have that 1st round pick.

Either one is good, imo.

You nailed in TJF12 because without that pick, we had nothing in 2015. No first and no second. It is indeed a win-win for the Lakers.

This trade had nothing to do with getting Lin. Its about the 1st round pick and Lin's contract done after next season. Great trade.

I agree. The Lakers FINALLY made a move I think will help them in the long run...

Apparently the report that stated Bazemore accepted the deal but didn't sign presented to him by the Lakers was incorrect because he signed with the Hawks who probably gave him a better deal.

This shit sucks!!! I don't care what the reasoning... I don't buy a new hat and order league pass every year just to watch Lakers games to see Jeremy Lin and wait until next year... I waited until this year... We all knew Melo and James weren't coming... Build around it while everybody else fights for those 2...:L

I guess we are the only two in this boat...

Lin is garbage and watching turnovers is not fun unless its an apple pie contest. If Houston forms a "big 3", the first round pick will be very low... We will see how Randle pans out but the last time they actually drafted a solid player, correct me if im wrong, was Eddie Jones, Right?

There is a lot of "pie in the sky" dreaming going on in this thread.

Bazemore - Signed with the Hawks.
Monroe - RFA - Unless the Lakers overpay near max for him, Det will match.
Gasol - A sign & trade with the Bulls will just bring you some 2nd round picks or maybe a 1st round later in the future & Boozer.
Ariza/Deng - Likely signing with a playoff/contender team like Mia/Was/Hou/Dal.

I do like the Lin trade for the Lakers. All it cost them is some cap space & they received a bottom 1/3 1st round pick in return. It's not a glamorous move, but for a team with not many assets, it's a good move.
