I think only the Buffalo loss you can completely blame on Cutler. That INT clearly cost them the game. The other 3 losses, there were plenty of reason. For example the Carolina loss. Forte's fumble late in the 4th quarter when the game was tied was the biggest play of that game. Gould's missed chip shot FG was huge too. Did you read the quotes from Panthers players after that game? They said that when Gould missed that chip shot, they made a big deal out of it in the huddle. They said that was their break and they used that to change the momentum of the game. That game probably not only would have been a Bears win, but a blowout win had Gould not missed that. The Panthers looked dead as a doornail until Gould missed that. So with how HUGE the Gould miss and Forte fumble were, I don't know how anyone can say Cutler cost them that game. He made a couple mistakes but also made a lot of great plays, and they would have won if not for the Gould and Forte blunders. The season would look a lot better now at 4-3 rather than 3-4.
I do think the Bears will win in New England. I'm betting they use all this turmoil to prove everyone wrong and play a big game. Remember the Pats were in a similar situation a few weeks ago. Lots of turmoil with Brady upset and even talk that Brady wasn't gonna finish his career with the Pats. They looked in shambles, but they used it as motivation and have played great since. We have to hope the Bears can do the same.
Completely? true. No game is completely any one guy's fault. That's basically true of every NFL game in history. When I said primarily, I meant him more than anyone else.
Buffalo you already agree with, so moving on to...Green Bay. A solid argument can be made that Trestman screwed this one up by going to the passing game...Cutler...when he should have stuck to running. Fine. I would still say Cutler blew those ints. More broadly, this was a game that when I watched on All-22, Cutler made a LOT of more serious mistakes he did not get burned by (i.e. picking receivers he shouldn't have but getting lucky). This whole game, Cutler's decision making should be in serious question. Even the preponderence of passing that could be blamed on Trestman may have been Cutler audibling. So I'm still blaming Cutler as main blame for that one.
Carolina..jeez, he passed well in between committing three turnovers. Three.
Then this week, he chalks up two more and fumbles twice more that were at least recovered. But still pretty bad.
So I don't know...yeah other players contributed to those losses....but who exactly more than Cutler? I get it that QBs are bound to make more mistakes, it just seems like he makes a lot when he loses.
But keep defending him, maybe you're right. I don't care. I am fucking sick of this shit. I don't see crap like this on Denver's board, and Brady has two bad weeks out of 14 YEARS and people start questioning him, that is over-reacting. Has Cutler baked a cake of good will? When? I didn't get a piece.
