OUCH: Jay Cutler autographed football gets 0 bids at charity auction - CBSSports.com

People will bid on almost anything at a charity auction -- which makes sense, because the money's going to charity -- but apparently, even charitable people have their limits.
At a charity auction in Chicago on March 26, a football autographed by Jay Cutler received zero bids, meaning that Cutler has now basically destroyed the entire idea of a charity auction. Think about it, attendees decided they would rather not donate to charity than pay actual money for a Jay Cutler autographed football.
The bidding for the football started at $100. The event was put on by the Anti-Cruelty Society and the group's president sounded somewhat surprised that Cutler's football didn't sell.
"When it came back, I was surprised it didn't go, but I didn't think it was because of who signed the football," Dr. Robyn Barbiers told the Chicago Tribune.
OR MAYBE IT WAS WHO SIGNED THE FOOTBALL.
The Tribune noted that although Cutler's football didn't get any bids, a book signed by former Illinois basketball coach Bruce Weber was auctioned off for $120. Weber was fired by the school in 2012.
By the way, when I say people will bid on anything, I mean anything. Someone bought the golf cart below for $112,500.
Anyway, the Cutler story does have a somewhat happy ending. After the auction, a man called up and offered to buy the football for $100 so he could give it to his son.
So basically, Jay Cutler's son is going to be getting a pretty cool Christmas gift this year.
Note: I can't actually prove that Cutler was the person who bought the football.
Oh, and although Cutler isn't too popular with humans anymore, he is still popular with dogs, which makes sense because he did donate a signed football to a charity that helps them.
