This guy deserves his own thread because I think he's the biggest enigma in the entrire draft.

1. He has like 28 sacks in the last 2 years in the SEC. That's a wow.
2. He has spinal stenosis.
3. He had horrible workout numbers. 40, 3cone, etc. And they were pro' day numbers, which are usually better.
4. He's almost entirely a beat-you-off-the-snap guy. He does not bull rush at all.
5. He'll be 24 this year.

The guy just has a knack for getting to the QB, but he has all these red flags. There's a realistic chance he falls outo f the top 40 picks. The mock aren't saying so, but I think if anyone has a huge dratf-day fall it's he. So here's what I'm asking:

Would you take him over Tank Caradine?
Would you take him over Damontre Moore? (a guy who's like 3 years younger but doens't have that great first step).
Would you take him over Tyler Eifert?
Eric Reid?

I have never once been impressed by him when I have watched Georgia. I told you guys this early in the season before everything else reared. I personally would pass on him. I just don't see the strength, leverage, or explosiveness needed. I think he is gonna have trouble with NFL tackles.

I have no doubt he is one of the best pass rushers in this draft. I think his numbers against SEC competition over the last 2 years speak for themselves. He single handedly beat Missouri this past year buy terrorizing their QB on their last few possessions and of course came up huge in the Florida game.

He is a probably a better prospect as a push rusher coming out of Georgia than David Pollack was and I believe he was a top #20 pick.

Here is my concern though. How healthy can he stay and is he an every down player?

Clearly he needs to go to a team with a 3-4 defense, but is he an every down LB or a pass rushing specialist? Also he probably would have had at least another 4 sacks last year had he not missed several games due to injury. Can he hold up for an entire NFL Season?

Can he do what you would be drafting him to do? Absolutely he will terrorize NFL QB's and has the desire and passion to keep playing at a high level. Can he cover and be an every down player and can his body hold up for a full 16 games though will determine where he goes in the draft.

The pro day numbers mean nothing to me since the tape tells a totally different story. It's like seeing a guy put up monster combine numbers, but then you go well what did he do on the field, oh he was just average so you start to question the numbers being real.

At this point, if Carradine & Jones were both on the board at 31, I would take Carradine. But it would be extremely tempting to go with Jarvis.

Now that Haralson's back, and since there is so much depth at OLB in this draft, I think you gotta go with the guy who can be the next RDE when JSmith is gone.

I watched several Bulldogs games this year to see if Jones' 2011 production was a mere fluke, but the man not only duplicated what he did in 2011, he did it on a consistent basis. There were games where he was unblockable. It would be hard for me to pass up on a player like that despite his lack of ahtletic abilities. You just cannot teach instincts / playmaking ability IMO (which is why I hate Culliver as a corner so much), so I'd go with that player posses that.

Honestly though, if they're both there at pick #31, I'd try my best to get them both. Back-to-back picks. I'd trade my my 34th overall pick along with one of my fourth round pick with the Ravens for their 32nd overall pick. I don't know what the points would look like with you look at the trade value, but if I really was torn between the two players, I'd try my absolultely best to get them both back-to-back.

If we get both of them. I dnt see how everyone isn't ecstatic. Jones was a BEAST the last 2 yrs. So what's not 2 like as a pass rusher?

In my opinion, he is as effective if not moreso than Bruce Irvin last year with the Seagulls when he came out. I would love to have him for the next 5 years as a situational rusher that can spell either Aldon or the othe guy who's name is escaping me right now..

If they were both there, I honestly would take Jarvis ahead of Carradine. Now that may be a fault, but even how the technology with ACL repair has gotten better, there is always the chance of not returning. I would feel mor comfortable with Jarvis for the next 5 years..

Jarvis Jones - LB - Bulldogs

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora writes teams are "blown away" by Georgia LB Jarvis Jones' film.

"Jarvis Jones has seen specialists for his spinal condition and been on the rise lately, sources said," La Canfora writes. "Teams are more comfortable with the health, have gone back to watch tape and are blown away by the Georgia linebacker. There are knocks on most of the pass rushers in this draft, and I get the sense Jones still goes within the top 17 picks and possibly in the top 10."

Jarvis Jones - LB - Player

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports the Steelers are "very comfortable" with Georgia OLB Jarvis Jones at No. 17.

The feeling is apparently mutual, as Jones talked up the Steelers in a Tuesday interview with Profootballtalk. Jones would be an ideal replacement for James Harrison, but could easily come off the board before Pittsburgh is on the clock.

1. No - this guy was the diamond in the rough before getting all the recent justified attention, and would be a great fit.
2. Yes! (definitely). I think Domontre Moore could easily fall pretty hard himself because of his limited upside.
3. No. If Eifert is on the board when we pick he's got to be it. In all honesty I really doubt that's the situation. He's been flying under the radar a lot because teams don't even worry about his character and don't need to waste an interview on him. And don't want to draw any extra attention.
4. Yes. I think Reid hangs around a little bit longer and should be there for our second pick.

BINGO!! Would u trade up to 16-17 to get him?

No I wouldn't.

Unless it's a no brainer type of trade. For instance, giving up our 31st pick for a fourth round pick this year. I'm not sure how that looks on the chart in terms of the points system whether or not it's realistic. But if a proposal like that came along, I'd do it in a heart beat.

But what I wouldn't do is trade our 31st pick with one of our 2nd rounders to acquire him.

Come tomorrow night, we all know darn well that we will not be having the 31 overall pick. A trade will happen. However, if by any chance we miraculously failed to trade up and we are stuck at pick #31, I'd feel extremely comfortable in drafting him at that spot.

Hey - what two players are you talking about back to back? Carradine and Jones?

My main concern with Jones is his long term health - spinal injuries can be really difficult to fix. I'd be concerned that he tear it up for a few years, but then run into problems with it. It's probably worth the risk - and definitely more in a typical draft, but this draft offers real viable alternative options.

I really think the Steelers would end up taking him though if he fell that far.

are the next two teams (Ravens and Jaguars) likely to draft them? if unlikely, then take a chance at 34th. take Jones first and see if Carradine makes it to 34th?

its possible another team trades up to 32nd or 33rd, but wouldn't it likely be for a QB?

My buddy who is a Jets fan is absolutely salivating at the thought of this guy going to the Jets. Mingo seems to be a sexy pick in terms of pass rushers but I think when all is said and done JJ will be the better player.

if evaluators really do rely more on game tape, how can you ignore his production? in the SEC no less.
