LOL. I cracked up just upon seeing the title of this thread.

I think it depends entirely on his goals. If he wants money, I can see a team shelling out $4mil+ ish per year on a 2-year deal. Especially a cap floor team that wants a ticket draw. If he wants a Cup, he can take a cut and play for a contender.

My guess is he wants money.

Yeah, that's the thought I had too. I mean, the guy said he was so happy in Philly, and life was grand, and it was perfect...but he's testing the market? Somehow I doubt it's because he thinks they aren't a contender.

Maybe he just can't stand Bryzgalov. I mean, they can't even eat at the same table together...

I'm sure proximity to casino factors in.

It's too bad Rivers Casino is next to Heinz Field and not CEC. :D

If he signs to play in Edmonton, there must be a provision that he has to re-grow the mullet...

Sincerely though 4706, is this disappointing or somewhat expected? Seems to me most Fly-guys on here were gung-ho about resigning him, albeit at their own chosen cost. You could say he lost it a bit toward the end of the season, but he was good in the Pens series. *grumblegrumblegrumble*

As much as I'd love him in a Pens uni to close out his career, based on his frustrations in Philly, he wouldn't be any happier here. He wants top line playing time, and while he could and probably would certainly see that, I don't think it'd be any more than he got in Philly. And you know, lefties.

Pix, I would have like him back for 2.5-3 million. He seemed to be great in the locker room, and with all the rookies he was the perfect vet to have. It would be nice to have him back, but on the flip side him not signing here opens up a clearer spot for a bigger forward need, a faceoff master for the 4th line.

He'll be good next year, but the price wont be worth it.

my guess:

Philly made him a low offer, and he just wants to remind them that he has other options.

To me, he ruined his shot to retire as a Penguin. He should stay in Philadelphia. It's not sour-grapes, but he'd be competing with Malkin, Staal, Crosby and Neal for powerplay time. Of those, Staal is the only regular penalty killer. It doesn't sound like a good fit. In Philly, they play some of their top powerplay perfomers on the penalty kill as well, freeing up some minutes.

Really? I thought Max fucking Talbot was better. That was a crazy series and I barely even remember Jagr played in it.

He wasn't amazing or anything, but you knew he was there. Honestly, it'd take Jagr going to Pens management, taking a paycut, and explaining what he wants from the team to be a Penguin. Just very, very unlikely.

I don't know if I hate him or love all the drama he creates by being a nutcase. But yes, he is more likely to land in 29 other NHL cities; that is for sure.

A healthy Jagr with Crosby would be scary...
