Let's go over this again.

7 home games required for budgetary reasons. Occasionally it can be 6 IF its a neutral site game that pays out a lot OR if its a really good/exciting matchup. UF has scheduled miami to two home and home contracts since the 12th game was added for example.

1 Neutral site game...the WLOCP

7 other conference games + fsu. four will be away and four will be home in any given year.

Ergo 8+1=9.

Are we following so far? Good.

There are 3 games left on the schedule and UF needs 3 more home games.

Say! Whaddaya know? Those 3 games need to be home games. Thus no space for home and home contracts with OOC programs other than fsu.

Don't try to tell us "out of state" means anything. It doesn't. The quality of the opponent matters. Neither the selection committee nor the AP poll nor any strength of schedule formula factors "out of state" into the equation. It is simply irrelevant.

Is Florida not receiving any revenue from the WLOCP? Given that Florida is desperately trying to raise money as you suggested, it doesn't make sense to play it if you aren't getting the money.

You're right sorry about that. That was the first OOC regular season game that the Gators played out of the state of Florida since 1991. Thanks for the correction.

Not that "out of state" matters any more than "opponents who wear purple socks" or "when Venus was in its 3rd phase" or any other completely random criterion.

Of course UF makes money from that game. If you're not going to be satisfied unless UF agrees to lose money due to its scheduling or to flush its tradition (like playing the WLOCP) down the toilet, well then you're just going to be left unsatisfied. Somehow UF will manage to live with that.

Sure "an OOC out of state regular season game" matters!!! What would happen if teams like USC, Ohio State, U-DUB or Texas never scheduled an OOC out of state regular season game? Ask any college team if it matters crossing the United States to play an OOC game!!!

Firstly those teams do not have any major in-state OOC opponents except Texas which refuses to play aTm. So from this are we to assume you would be happy if UF were to drop fsu and schedule a home and home contract with a rotating P5 team every year so long as that team was out of state?

Secondly, if "out of state" matters, why is it not factored into any strength of schedule formula? Why does the AP not take that into account? Why does the selection committee not take that into account?

You know what someone pointed out to me last week, when you include the bowl game coming up Michigan has played Florida 3 times in three years. Yet Auburn, who's in the SEC and considered a "rival" of Florida, hasn't played Auburn since 2011....how absurd is that? How is it possible that a B10 program has played Florida more in the last 7 years than a program in the SEC?
Florida is scared of us.

There are four programs which play an annual neutral site rivalry game. UF happens to be one of those four.

It also happens to be one of the only ones that plays an in-state OOC opponent. (a good one by the way).

It is definitely the only one that has two in-state OOC opponents who are really good programs.

As for me, I would rather drop fsu and play home and home contracts with out of state opponents....but we all know if that were to happen there would be all sorts of crying and whining that UF doesn't play fsu every year anymore.
Rationalization, rationalization, rationalization....................................

F don't know why "the selection committee doesn't take an OOC out of state regular season game not account". Maybe they do? USC plays Notre Dame every year and schedules a "home and home" against teams like Texas.

Nope! They don't. Nor does any SOS formula. Nor does the AP. Know why? Because its completely irrelevant. State lines do not matter. The color of socks a team wears do not matter. The movements of distant celestial bodies do not matter. What matters is the quality of the opponent. The rest is just bunk.

Don’t lump all UM fans in together — I couldn’t care less who plays who. I’m just tired of playing Florida so damn much.
Look at it this way. You COULD be playing Auburn, and then you might be sitting next to a goat.

Maybe? How about coming to the West Coast to play a game?
They only have so many passes from their parole officer to leave the state and they have to save them for the conference games.

Only fair enough, I have my opinion and you have yours. Time to move on.
