Well, for the Sabres, it's because they can't get the puck out of their own end to even pull the goalie.

I've always wondered why you can't pull the goalie with the puck in your own end. It's not like your goalie is making save after save and you can't track down the puck, it's often the other team playing keep away on the boards. Well, if you had an extra skater out there, they shouldn't be able to keep it away from you for that long. Odds are you're going to lose no matter what you do, but at least with an extra skater you have better odds of scoring, why not at least try something different?

You should read the article on why the Pens targeted Neal. His shooting % was really correlated to his shot location. In other words, he'd really benefit from playing with a Malkin or Crosby.

Great use of analytics by the scouts, and it really paid off.

Still, with Crosby and Kuni leaving and all the juggling going on early, we looked pretty sloppy. So maybe a combination of us getting our shit together and the Isles with their usual third period struggles.

He played a heck of a game, even before he got some timing with Malkin and Neal. He's great on the boards, and he really controlled that part of the game from beginning to end. He's a great fit with the Penguins.
