No it isn't. I think it would be a selfless, classy move to do for a selfless, classy guy.

So Crosby, your 25-year old franchise player who has already captained your team to a Stanley Cup, should be stripped of the 'C' so another team's franchise player whom you've rented for three months can have extra warm and fuzzies if they do win it all?

I love Iggy a ton, but pretty sure even he would find that ridiculous.

Not to mention, if they did happen to win a Cup - you're taking away part of Crosby's legacy in order to add to Iginla's. If the Pens are lucky enough to raise the Cup in June, Iggy will get the first handoff and I'm sure he would be ecstatic about that.

If injuries make an 'A' up for grabs, I'm sure Iggy would be the first guy to get it.

Because at the end of the day, "Captained the Penguins to X Stanley Cup victories" will be part of that legacy, not "X selfless acts to make other players feel good." Sidney is a good guy, but he's also competive. He wants the team to win, but he's not going to just hand his accomplishments away. Maybe he should forfeit the Art Ross to Kunitz, so Kunitz can feel appreciated for all his hard work this year.

The Penguins owe Iggy their gratitude and hard work every single shift to give the man the best chance to win the Cup. Nothing more. It's not like Iggy chose Phoenix to try and get them into the playoffs, give them some star power, and help save the franchise. He chose the top team in the East on a ridiculous winning streak with the two best centermen in the world. I am as grateful as anyone that Iggy chose to come to Pittsburgh, but the guy isn't getting a bad deal here.
