I haven't messed with my programmer for a long time, I liked the performance of my truck- I was "ok" with getting 13-14 mpg..... but with gas prices on the rise and nothing better to do tonight- I started to fiddle around, truck runs awesome.. except for one thing....

After coming back into the city from doing some testing, I pulled up to a 4 way stop sign, there was a cop across from me so instead of getting heavy footed like I always am I tried to ease into the throttle.. The truck did not sound good at all, it's hard to explain, almost like the exhaust was plugged with a potato or something... even with the throttle about 25% down the truck was barely moving.
Here is how the truck is set..
Gotts mod(K&N), straight piped- Not sure what octane I'm running, I've been pumping 91 for a long time, but can't remember if I put 91 in last payday or not for sure, I'm thinking I may have put in 87 due to gas prices.
Edge settings
Level 3
Idle= +10
WOT Fuel= +1.8
WOT Shift= 5250, 5250, 4800
Max RPM= 5450
Shift Firm= +12,+12, +9
Timing= -.25( I did this because I was not sure what octane I actually have)
Ambient temp is 19, just incase that my matter.
MY QUESTION(s)
Is this a timing setting issue? Is this a lack of back pressure issue(no muffler), is this a MAF issue? Is this a octane issue?
I mean, I don't want to tweak it too much- the truck runs nice right now, and from the house and back I got 16.6 mpg(test runs included).... driving through town at 25-35 mph the impg was maxed out most the time and basically idling down the street.
Maybe I should just break down and finally call bill at php and get some real tunes.....
