This all reminds me of the Lindros deal when Quebec traded him to the NYR and the Flyers.

That was an odd presser too. The Nords held that conference announcing all those recent Flyers and Aubut said that he thought the Rangers deal was better.

Disrupted three locker rooms with that one.

So, the shit disturber in me has to ask this... Nothing but a cup is acceptable.

Who takes the blame if they don't get there?

Shero fixed problems not from this season necessarily (though the Murray pick up has to do with this season's issues), but from the past few postseasons. Leadership, motivation to win, responsible players. Sid's a good captain, but not a great one. He's no Iginla. He's a lead by example type, so now we have the vocal guys in the room too. So, if they fail, it's not on him at ALL.

Obviously this depends on how it were to happen, but I've seen Dan get out-coached many times before...just hope that doesn't happen again. There's a lot on his head now if they don't win. He just needs to keep the team focused and let the players play. His "system" works when everyone buys in, and they've been playing it well all month. The guys they've added are the types that will do anything for the team, so I'm not worried about them.

Maybe it went down like this (purely speculation):

- Iginla and/or agent supply Calgary with the list – it includes both Pitt and Boston
- But player still has to sign-off on final deal when done
- Flames/Bruins agree on deal. Feaster figures its done since Boston is on the list
- Deal is taken to Iginla camp
- Iginla camp says no. Has to be Pitt.
- Feaster now stuck. If word gets out that Iginla has picked only Pitt he’s got zero leverage.
- Calls Pitt and makes the best deal he can in short order
- Boston out of luck, Feaster’s hands forced.

I mean, if he's the reason, sure. And hoenstly, if they don't win I don't see it being from lack of scoring.

I couldnt see the pens scoring 8 goals in a 7 game cup final series so it would be all on maf

If by some circumstance the pens score 8 goals maybe we can all somehow blame luongo

Damage control and spin Matty

Just heard all the details from Chia's presser. The deal was done at noon yesterday. Bottom line is that Iggy told Calgary that he wanted to go to the Pens.

As far as that goes. Would I have liked Iggy in. Spoked B of course. He made a choice and went elsewhere. No biggy. Honestly I think the NHL needs to set some kinda rule regarding deals like this with the NTC. If a player submits a list then all on the list are available and take it away from the player/agent.

Anyways the Bruins will be fine and are gonna be tough to beat in a 7 game series.

Man, I would have liked to have seen Iggy in a B's uniform, but now I'm hoping for a Pens - Bruins playoff series.

would've pulled for iggy to win a cup as long as he didn't go to the pens.

now, screw him. i hope they get bounced in the first round and boston wins it all. that'll teach him to pick the pens and the golden boy.

down with crosby! and anyone who likes him! :lm:

I don't understand why people are making a big deal about him choosing the Pens, or for that, just making a choice. That's why you choose to have a NMC...so that when the time comes you have control. If GMs don't want to have difficult times moving players, they should stop giving them out.

He is not mentally tough, and the scars of last year are still fresh.

I would love to totally get rid of NTC's and NMC's.

NOPE. If a player earns it, and gets a team to agree to it, I am all for it.

I would like to see GMs actually get punished for them when they go bad.

I guess Howson ultimately got canned, so...

Some times guys get a limited NTC. Not sure if Iggy had one or not. He must not have or this wouldn't have happened.

Lest we forget, it was Dutter who game Iggy the NTC/NMC. Feaster was just the guy handed the bag.

I'm not sure why they bothered to submit a list of three teams in the first place.

He had a full NMC, so that's as iron clad as it gets. Player has to sign off on ANY move.

True...still an accountability thing.

He'll get his boos just like everyone else when he's in Philly. :yahoo:
