If we are talking about now, he certainly makes the short list (see my earlier post).
If we are talking all-time, I agree, he isn't there yet.
So, I should put all my VCash on SF?

As good as Maddux was in the regular season I always thought he was subpar in the postseason. Idk if
I could trust him.
Obvious answer to this question is Jack Morris.

Maddux was poor in the post season. Smoltz was there best post season guy.
So if your life depended on it and you had to choose one pitcher, you'd choose Madison Bumgarner?
Looks like MY LIFE is safe to fight another game with Bum tonight. Terrifically thrown ballgame tonite. He shut down a team playing at it's home park that had won 11 straight postseason games dating back to to 80's.
I chose wisely.
Walter Johnson.
Im talking about compared to his regular seasons he just wasn't as good in the postseason as he was in the regular season to me.
MAddux had a better postseason ERA, was a better defender and had better control. If you look at randy johnsns postseason numbers, he had three good postseasons out of 7, especially his phenomenal 2001. His team won four times and lost seven in the playoffs in games he pitched with three of those wins in the same year. Breaking it down
In 95 he had a 2.5 ERA in two games, very good.
97 not as good a 5.5
98 he had a great era in the game he pitched a 1.9
In 99 it was awful 7.6
2001 was his best year winning the mvp three games with a 3.4, 1.1 and 1.05
From there on out he was just plain bad
2002 7.5
2005 6.15
And 2006 7.95
He did have the amazing game in 2001 but he pitched extremely poorly in more than 50% of his postseasons.
If I had a time machine....
I put Big Train up against Pedro.
Zoikes! I need to start a time machine thread!
