Yup, agree 100%. One interesting name that might be out there as a backup plan for the Warriors might be Joakim Noah. He fits what the Warriors want to do both offensively and defensively. He's coming off injury too, so I'm not sure what his market value would be.

I would cry...

Well, even more than normal.

A healthy Noah is a game changer.

I remember laughing my ass off when the Warriors traded Monta for a broken Bogut.:pound:

This is my point about Noah. If he's injury prone why waste time bringing him in and having to deal with the headache of the other guys having to over compensate when he's out? Because honestly, it's not a matter of if he's out but rather when.

I'm pretty sure there will be other guys willing to go to GS to just provide rim protection-maybe even take a pay cut just to be on a winning team. That's what I mean by other options.

I'm legit concerned about his injury history. Then again Ezeli has a more extensive injury history in terms of his on court time and length of career.

I don't think anyone in their right mind will be taking a pay cut anytime soon, especially with the cap rising in the next few years. I wouldn't blame them either. The NBA owners are making a killing right now with nearly every franchise doubling in valuation in the past 5 years. Outside of veterans chasing a ring, there won't be many that will be taking large pay cuts just for the chance at a ring.

The list of guys who I would rely on in the free agent market are very slim. Here are the center options:

Top Tier:
Andre Drummond - Can't afford
Hassan Whiteside - Pass/Can't afford
Al Jefferson - Pass/Can't Afford

Second Tier:
Timofey Mozgof - Maybe?
Joakim Noah - Maybe?
Zaza Pachulia - Maybe?
Festus Ezeli - Maybe?
Ian Mahinmi - Maybe?

Third Tier:
Donatas Motiejunas - No Defense, but good O
Roy Hibbert - Washed/Too SLow
JJ Hickson - No Defense
Jordan Hill - No Defense
Tyler Zeller - Not sold.

Fourth Tier:
Don't bother

Do you honestly think James was talking about benching himself?
I'm not ruling it out based on your other idiocy and lack of common sense.
im just saying whether purposefully or not - it really doesnt matter- your statement was wrong.

Now if you said "What I THINK he said-"- hey knock yourself out...lol

Minutes played in the first half

Amare: 6
Hassan : 17

Exactly why nobody is making a big deal that he doesn't start. It was a move more made to help a struggling 2nd unit than it had to do with Hassan

I agree. There's definitely going to be some questionable contracts.

oh no doubt in my mind. and i'm hoping the Lakers don't get caught up in that trap. cuz imo it'd be easy considering they're going to be trying to re-stock talent on that roster...

what i think is hilarious - is that everyone is trying to attribute this stuff to me- when a lot of it comes from basketball people that have forgot more than you guys have ever known.---- MY WORDS- AS WELL AS THE WORDS OF.....

How about Rudy and Fournier?

Did Gobert, Fournier and Vucevic share an inside joke about Hassan Whiteside on Twitter? | Heat Check

6a00e008dcb0dc883401bb08aeda8c970d-320wi-png.85595.png

Or how about DWade?
B_tHytNUsAAafC_.jpg

Or How about BOSH AND WADE calling him out for babying his injuries?
http://deadspin.com/hassan-whiteside-on-his-monster-triple-double-aint-no-1753346150

Both Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh subtlety called out Hassan Whiteside, who they thought was babying his knee tendonitis:

or how about Tom Haberstroh?
Last week, ESPN's Tom Haberstroh joined the 790 the Ticket's morning show crew to discuss the conundrum the Miami Heat finds itself in and what story the numbers tell regarding the Heat with/without Whiteside.

"When you look at the numbers, with Whiteside on the floor, Dwyane Wade scores just 20.6 points per every 36 minutes, and the Heat get outscored by 44 points. When Whiteside is off the floor, Dwyane Wade is averaging 26 points per every 36 minutes, and the Heat are outscoring opponents by two points," Haberstroh said.

In addition to dropping those concerning Wade-Whiteside stats on Heat fans' laps, Haberstroh also touched on how Whiteside's presence in the paint on offense might be doing more harm than good regarding the style the Heat wants to play with Goran Dragic.

"I think when it comes to Goran, he's one of the best finishers in the league at the rim when he's healthy," Haberstroh said. "It comes down to if you have one less big body that you have to deal with down there in the paint, it's going to be much easier for him to score."

or how about the Miami New Times?

Advance stats continue to tell a story that ends with the Heat simply being a better basketball team when Whiteside isn't on the court. All season long, the numbers have shown the Heat has a drastically better defensewithoutits shot-blocking seven-footer standing in the paint. It's no longer too small of a sample size — the Heat is a better defensive team without Whiteside on the court. As it stands, the Heat has a defensive rating of 102.0 with Whiteside on the court and a 96.5 rating with him off the court. The defensive numbers — no matter how hard your eye-test tries to make you disagree — continue to suggest the Heat is a better defensive team when Whiteside doesn't play.

or another internet article? at fox sports .com There's a really big fluke with Heat's defense and Hassan Whiteside

he grand argument in Whiteside’s defense is that the mere threat of him rising to destroy shot attempts and egos deters enough shots for him to be a valuable piece, alone. But what if that's not the case?

Upon closer review, it doesn’t appear the highlight rejections are actually deterring the opposition from coming into the lane. Opponents aren’t just shooting better in the restricted area when Whiteside plays (64.3 percent compared to 60.7). They’re also getting to the rim more often.

So, let’s get this straight: Heat opponents are taking more shots in the restricted area, and they’re doing it at a higher efficiency when Whiteside plays. That’s the opposite of what’s supposed to be happening. Why?

Plenty of floating theories make sense.

There's the possibility that Whiteside is block-happy and ends up flying around the floor too aggressively after getting a couple of stuffs. Similar issues were present in younger versions of Serge Ibaka and DeAndre Jordan. The early-game swattery can be fool’s gold.

There's the occasional reluctance to rotate as a help defender, either because Whiteside recognizes offensive actions too late or because he doesn’t like leaving prime rebounding position to contest a shot that may or may not go in, anyway.

The nuanced hypothesizers use coach-speak and say something along the lines of, “It’s a little bit of both.” Just ask his teammates.

“When we go with a smaller lineup, you see more trapping. We’re playing faster,” said veteran swingman Luol Deng. “When Hassan is in the game, we want to take away the jump shots and kind of force guys to drive into him.”

If the Heat are forcing guys to the lane more, it’d make sense some would get lose in the restricted area. Still, allowing such a high efficiency at the rim is far from preferable.

or how about :

ESPN- most overated players in the league ? NBA's most overrated: Melo, Rondo among those coming up short

amar Odom once criticized JaVale McGee's basketball IQ by saying, "The game is called basketball, not run and jump."

That quote comes to mind when watching Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside.

Whiteside blocks 3.9 shots per game, and for his career he is the NBA's most prolific shot-blocker in two decades. He's also fifth in the league in rebounding, ranking in the top 10 in offensive and defensive rebounds per game.

Impressive, right? It sounds as if he should be the NBA Defensive Player of the Year, at least.
When Whiteside sits, the Heat are better on defense. Over the past two seasons, as Whiteside has burst onto the scene in Miami, the Heat have allowed three fewer points per 100 possessions with Whiteside out of the game.

That's not all. The Heat also grab more rebounds when he sits: They get 80 percent of defensive rebounds without Whiteside versus 76 percent with him.

Why? Whiteside apparently doesn't know -- or doesn't care -- that the opposing center is the biggest threat to grab offensive boards and that the most important job of any center, after a shot goes into the air, is making sure that opponent has no clear path to the basket for a rebound.

Instead of boxing out, Whiteside appears to want the rebound for himself, according to my video review of Whiteside's play. This boosts his totals but costs his teammates rebounds. At the same time, opposing centers actually see a bump in their rebounding numbers against Whiteside, who is often ball-watching once a shot goes up.

It's a similar story with the block numbers. Whiteside seems more concerned about getting his individual block numbers up than keeping the opponent from scoring. Many times he will leave his man to "help" a teammate and rack up a potential block, even if his teammate is in good defensive position.

So what happens? If Whiteside doesn't get the blocked shot (and he usually doesn't), the now double-teamed player often finds Whiteside's man free under the basket. Or if the shot goes up, Whiteside is completely out of position to grab the rebound.

Either way, the opposing team has an easier time grabbing offensive boards and, with no rim protector in sight, has no trouble putting the ball immediately in the basket.

Whiteside's real plus-minus tells part of the story, as he is ranked 31st among centers. And in truth, his RPM is likely to be even lower in the future, as the credit received for blocks and rebounds is overwhelmed by his negative on-off numbers.

Another exerpt from Miami New Times
This is from the Miami New Times.- the article Blancote was crying about
.

The Miami Heat has done everything possible to coexist with the phenomenon that is Hassan Whiteside. The team has coddled him in ways it has rarely done for any player. It's structured contracts — including that of its franchise star — to ensure it could remain in a position to break the bank for him this off-season. It's tasked an on-the-court/off-the-court tag team of Alonzo Mourning and Juwan Howard to keep him on the straight-and-narrow when it comes to all things NBA life that most players don't have to be begged to figure out at 26 years old. It's miscast its star point guard — delaying adapting to a style that best suits him — so that it can cater to a style of play that better suits Whiteside. It's continually slowed the bus just so Whiteside can jump on — only to see him jump back off at every stop.

OR MORE HABERSTROH:

Tom Haberstroh, ESPN Insider: TheMiami Heat, though you can quibble about whether they qualify as a contender. They beat Charlotte last week with zero 3-pointers made, but that was a mirage. Having Goran Dragicand Dwyane Wade on the same team without a fleet of floor-spacers (translation; with Whiteside on the floor) is like buying a Porsche and filling the gas tank with mud.

OR DOC RIVERS VIA MICHAEL WALLACE OF ESPN

Michael WallaceESPN Staff Writer

Chris Paul runs four straight pick-and-roll plays to isolate Hassan Whiteside and expose the fact he wouldn't dare step out to defend. Doc Rivers yells "Keep doing it until they stop it, damn it." Spoelstra responds by putting Bosh back in the game. Doc sees Bosh at scorers table and says they're getting a mobile big in the game. Bosh tells Doc, "I ain't a big any more. Though y'all knew that."
Michael WallaceESPN Staff Writer
Doc Rivers just told the referee in advance that the Clippers would be intentionally fouling Hassan Whiteside seconds before it happened. Sort of like he was ordering from a menu. Doc then turns to scorers table and sarcastically jokes, "Y'all like this intentional fouling stuff? Well, me too."
lol....too funny

so....just what do we have....i mean- wait- I JUST MADE ALL THAT STUFF UP- TOTALLY FABRICATED IT---- fake bylines, fake interviews...those quotes? my imagination. lol. you guys are right. I was able to condouct a nation wide consipiracy against Whitesides image by planting damaging stories nationally, locally, amongst NBA players, coaches, reporters, analyst, etc....:rolleyes2::scratch:

1. multiple LOCAL articles detaling how Whiteside is overated
2. multiple NATIONAL articles detailing how Whiteside is overated
3. multiple NBA players ripping on Whiteside on twitter saying how overated he is
4. Dwayne Wade calling out Whiteside for being immature for cheap shot-ing a guy and getting suspended during a playoff run (last year)
5. Dwayne Wade AND Bosh calling out Whiteside for babying his knee tendinitis
6. Doc Rivers- confirming exactly what i have been saying- put Whiteside in the high pick and roll and just destroy his ass till he has to come off the floor- either that or "hack him and send him to the line"

yah...all me.... i just MADE up all this stuff...you guys are right- its ALL TOTAL BULLSHIT--- you guys OF COURSE know more than Doc Rivers, Ethan Skolnick, Tom Haberstroh, Brian Windhorst, Michael Wallace, Rudy Gobert, ETC ETC ETC...--- wait- i mean- those guys never said ANY OF THAT- it was me...WiggyRuss- LOL....

it just seriously cracks me up. I SERIOUSLY believe you guys ACTUALLY think that this is all just made up hocus pocus meant to try and confuse you! LOL...

what it actually is- a pretty representative consensus that Whiteside is an overated petulant child.

this has to be my favorite passage from the ESPN article saying he is one of the 5 most overated players in the league

Whiteside seems more concerned about getting his individual block numbers up than keeping the opponent from scoring

be patient- and more often then not- you will be vindicated....its just too great. oh wait - you guys are right--- that wasnt from ESPN--- something i just made up...hacked ESPN and posted up there...good catch!

and @TurnUpTheHeat congrats on winning the bet--- all though- it was just one week and this is the last night.....

your Heat are at 5th place- and a full 2 and a half games out of 9th! bravo

pretty much where- at hte beginning of the season i thought they would be--- lower half of the east standings, on pace for about 45 wins. A toothless veteran team no threat to the conferences Elite.

Who are the conferences elite outside of Cleveland? Toronto has done nothing in the playoffs except choke so I don't think anyone is scared of them in a best of 7 series. Our record is not great but I don't think we could ask to be in a better position after the brutal 18 stretch we just completed. Depending on the result of the Clippers/Celtics game tomorrow, the Heat will either be 1 GB of Boston for 3rd (with the same amount of losses) or 2 GB (but only 1 GB in the L column). March doesn't look too bad schedule wise and in addition to this with the news of Butler being out for the next month and ATL looking at breaking up their team, I like Miami chances as long as they healthy to finish as a top 4 seed out East

1. You proposed the bet. I accepted just because.

2. I'd say the Heat are as close to being elite in the East, as the Cavs are to possibly winning a championship.
We both need a couple pieces.

3. You predicted the Heat to win more game then I did.

4. Im a Heat fan, regardless. I was during a 15 win season, playoff teams, non playoff teams and championship teams. It doesn't matter. More fun to win. No results change my life. It's entertainment.

5. You're what real fans can't stand. You think you're smart, but really don't know the game. Copy, paste all the handpicked quotes you want. The only person you're convincing is yourself.

You switched teams, when James did. Is there anything worse then that?
You turn games off when the Cavs are losing.

6. You continually run you're mouth, but run from bets when you're words are challenged.

7. Nothing's changed. Whitside>>>>>Tristan.

Alex Kennedy from Basketball Insiders.com joined the Big O Show on 560 WQAM to discuss the Miami Heat, the NBA, and specifically Hassan Whiteside and what the Heat will do with him in the offseason.

On Whiteside: “I think at the end of the day, Whiteside is important [in Miami], but it’s a strange dynamic. And I think it’s something other teams are going to bring up in Free Agency. We saw with DeAndre Jordan last year. Teams told him; ‘look, you’re not finishing games. You’re going to be more involved in offense here. You’re going to be the man.”

“From what I heard, Whiteside loves Miami and wants to stay.”

“If say a guy like Kevin Durant wants to come to Miami, they’re going to have to decide – do we want to keep Whiteside, or do we use our cap space on Durant [or someone else].”

“I doubt there is a scenario where they lose out on Whiteside and lose out on a big name player. I think it’s going to come down to a choice for [Pat] Riley.”

Flagrant foul penalty 2 for Hassan Whiteside. He's been ejected for swinging elbow on Boban Marjanovic. Leads to unprecedented 7-point possession for Spurs.

hahahahahahahaahahaha...you can set your clock by this guy acting like a moron.....just MONTHS before his free agency too.....OBVIOUSLY there were very good reasons this guy was black balled from the league. He does not have the mental capacity to act like a professional.
