shit dude- if just PURE TALENT was the only consideration- Whiteside would be WAAAY up there. If he was a model citizen and a hard worker and a guy you could rely on- id probably take him over Thompson. But thats just not the case

we have two guys that are POLAR OPPOSITES on that spectrum

One guy- GREAT teammate, amazing work ethic, no ego, is the current NBA leader in consecutive games played with over 330- is NEVER hurt-----

One guy- been blackballed from the league for a term of years, comes back- takes a cheap shot at Kelly Olnyk and is TOSSED and suspended during a playoff race....All the Heat apologist say it wont happen again. LESS THAN A YEAR later---- gets ejected and suspended during a playoff race.....in between? Swearing at a reporter on twitter because he got his wittle feelings hurt, being called out by his teammates for babying his injuries ETC ETC>

if JUST PLAIN 100% talent dictated the effect you have on your team and the effect you have on WINNING in the NBA---- it would be VERY difficult not to pick whiteside---however- when you have a historical shithead on Whitesides level---- and an absolutely 1st rate teammate, worker, egoless guy like Thompson- that has to be given SUBSTANTIAL effect

Turnup did a classical mistake...his ego MADE him support a guy that deep down KNEW didnt deserve support...

personally I didnt think he would blow up until he was getting thrashed in the playoffs Olnyk style on Love last year......I didnt realize it would take a backup Euro on the Spurs for him to lose his mind and ONCE AGAIN embarass himself and his organization AND the blind HEat fans that were backing him.

And as far as the stupidity, which it was, watch the video then watch the one of JR vs Celts.
JR's was worse, yet you're on his balls like white on rice, and his stupidity came in a playoff series when Cavs were already short.

Tristans are a dime a dozen, not a knock on him, but at his cost you need to be above average at something other then rebounding.
You can get the same production from Taj Gibson if he was on the Cavs.

like i just said above--- if all else is equal- and JUST 100% talent was the only consideration - it would be very difficult not to take Whiteside...

but just like when he was blackballed from the league after failing with the Kings- he didnt fail because he didnt have the athleticism/talent etc. He failed because he has the mental capacity of a petulant child.


When you have 2 guys- that are TOTAL opposite ends of the spectrum-

one guy-
egoless
never gets hurt- always plays- BEST IN THE LEAGUE at it in fact
Extremely hard worker
great teammate
will NEVEr complain about not getting the ball, about not starting etc.


and the other guy
babys his injuries
takes cheap shots at other players
get suspended during playoff races and lets his teammates down
acts like a little baby when he gets criticized by the media

well that- and the fact that his team plays better defense when he is on the pine...

to me its a VERY VERY easy decision. You cant build a championship organization when you constantly have a shithead like Whiteside undermining the team.
