The Islanders offered him 500K more per year than Colorado signed him for. I'm not sure about the length of the contract Chuck offered though.

I hope he's enjoying losing in Edmonton.

Smyth spoke with Tambellini yesterday, was told he won't be asked to waive ntc, ryan expressed his interest in an extension.

does he drop to a below 2 million dollar salary? I was gonna say the Coilers might have to nostalgically over pay for Smyth next season in order to stay above the cap floor because they have a hell of a time getting quality players(who are ufas) to sign in edmonton

but then i remembered they have alot of guys on the roster that theyve overpaid lol

Parenteau is happy in L.I. no question about it. two seasons ago he signed for 600k. This year he's making 1.25M. He has a chance to break the bank on July 1st. Some think he could get as much as 4.5M per. Chuck likes back loaded deals. The only player that's been signed recently to a dollar for cap hit deal is Moulson at 3.1M per year for three years including this one.

The next 5 days are huge for the Islanders. A Leafs loss tonight would leave the Isles 6 points back with 2 games in hand. If the Islanders lose to St. Louis on Thursday & Carolina on Saturday all bets are off. I wouldn't be surprised if Parenteau is traded come deadline day if the Islanders are out of it.
