Thanks for the feedback. So the reason that happened (Orr and Lidstrom) is because of what I didn’t share - this hockey draft was part of a much larger 5 sport draft (also basketball, baseball, football, and soccer) where all 5 sports were drafted simultaneously. So GMs tended to focus more on certain sports, leaving a lot of value in the sports they were not focused on for other GMs to capitalize on. If you’d like, I can show you the entire draft to show you what I mean. We do it once per year - it’s called the Mega Draft and it’s a ton of fun. In a normal one sport hockey draft, zero chance Orr and Lidstrom get paired
Makes more sense because some of those teams are stacked because of the focus was on other sports. :suds:

Cool idea though.

If Tretiak had been drafted to Team Annapolis, they would never lose a game.

He is up there with Mogilny who never gets the respect he deserves.
Watched a lot of Bondra, and he was incredible. He would have been a mega star if he played for just about anyone else at his peak.

My cousins played with his kids, met him a few times. Such a nice guy.

I would have Hawerchuk before Toews and Olczyk. Larionov was a heck of a player, but I would take Hawerchuk over him as well.
@Mookie -> just saw this and @dash beat me to it. :suds:

Toews for one to me was overrated and Olczyk I am surprised he is here.
In the unpopular opinion of me I would probably have picked Hawerchuk over Malkin or Roenick also. Both would be on this list, but I would have thought of Hawerchuk before both of them.

Speaking of players that got overlooked (at least by me) and I thought he wasn't on the list but I do see him on the Montreal team was Sergei Zubov. Personally, I overlook him because his time in Pittsburgh was forgotten, it wasn't that he was bad. He put up great numbers, but he didn't fit in with the rest of their team. And in the end when you look at this career, you are like oh he was THAT good.

I often draft Zubov in this just didn't get to him this time.

Yeah that’s totally fair and I agree. so that particular GM it was his first time doing one of these drafts with us and I’m sure you can both guess where he’s from and who his NHL allegiance is to. On his all-time basketball team, he actually drafted Will Purdue! It was my favorite moment of the entire draft

Oh and I am not being critical of anyone doing these as it is near impossible to remember everyone, very cool thing to do. It does make for some great debate outside the very top players.

As for the NBA I can't even imagine where to begin, I would probably have heavily focused on the mid 80's through early 90's players only.
