I'm sure there are others, but Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 is the closest I can recall when the lead scream queen tries to employ Barbarella's strategy of fucking her way out of any and all sticky situations.

Anyhow, I saw that Don't Breathe won the box office for a few weeks. Did anyone catch it? Based off of the description, is it just a rehash of the Audrey Hepburn movie Wait Until Dark?
Been trying to get out to see Don't Breathe but haven't yet... Been talkin about that movie for months! Can't wait to see it!

The Wailing. 2016 (Korean Horror/Thriller) (subtitles.)

Just watched it. Not sure if peeps here reviewed it yet

Let me just go ahead and stick my neck out and say that everybody's "must watch" list for horror 2016
will include this movie.

It's a long and fantastic film. 9/10

The only detail I will tell you is this. ...early on you may find yourself with the impression the movie
is not to be taken seriously.....but

Is this a subtitled movie?

Yes it is.

I'm actually surprised that subtitles don't bother me at all.
But come to think of it ..90% of the movies I've seen with them were probably Horror.

So much visually going on you start to read unconsciously.

I've never really been a fan of subtitled movies. Makes it very difficult for me to enjoy the movie. But I shall give it a whirl!

Thanks for the rec! :suds:

Never been much for them either, but I've been watching this Italian mafia show on the Sundance Channel called Gomorrah. The show is so freakin' good they don't bother me in the least.

That's the key.

When the movie or show is really good you start out reading ..but you end up watching because you just forget you are reading.

lol, that was the movie I was going to watch but could only find part 2.

Yea, if nothing else it definitely deserves one of your patented reviews.

It's been awhile, but just watched my man Henry Rollins in He Never Died. IMO the trailer gives too much away, but here it is anyways.

Good supernatural biblical comedy action horror flick. Certainly a different vibe.

I won't pull a full review on it, but worth watching. 8 out of 10 but I am biased to anything Rollins related.

I enjoyed it, though I'd probably put it at closer to a 6 or 7. Didn't see a trailer beforehand, it was just one of the 30 horror movies available to me on Netflix.

Did you like The Last Heist as well? The plot was very thin, but I thought Rollins did a good job. It's weird. I like him and all, but I would never want to meet him, in most interviews of things I've seen him do when interacting with other people, he comes off as a huge dick.

Didn't see The Last Heist yet. Will have to check it out.

He is a different dude with a strange perspective compared to the norm. I don't find him dickish and he actually does some good things but I can see how he rubs some people the wrong way. On one hand I also wouldn't want to meet him because he probably would think that I am wasting my life, but I would also really like to sit down and talk to him for a few hours. That would be quite interesting.

Wish that he was still in music. To me, his lyrical themes in his punk poetry are his best work but he says he feels he has nothing left to offer in that genre.

This to me is the interview that made him come across as a complete asshole to me.

A lady yells out the name of his book and then he takes that as a reason to try to dress down a person that i'd have to imagine is probably a fan and seems to be by what she tells him.

I have to thank you jake. I finally remembered to edit my post so I could get rid of email notifications. When I first started that was the default. I didn't post in my threads where that would matter. Fixed it to just include notifications on here. That's enough for me. I'll always post on here with much regularity, fuck, October is right around the corner. think I watched 100 horror movies last year during the month (yeah, i have no life).

I will admit that he doesn't come off the best in that confrontation but I don't think he was trying to be a dick. He is just an ultra intense guy.

Whatever the case, he does some cool things and goes out of his way to help people. I wont elaborate here, but I will say that he has been in some cool movies over the years and I did enjoy He Never Died. I have been trying to imagibe it with a different lead, but I can't think of one who would have fit the blunt role better than Henry

Been trying to get out to see Don't Breathe but haven't yet... Been talkin about that movie for months! Can't wait to see it!

We just got back from the theater. Very good thriller. Not what I'd call a horror flick exactly. Several good & realistic scares, though. Very well done. I'd give it an 8/10.

Time Lapse (2014)

Sorry for the wait @Win TWINS!!! .. Hope your panties didn't get too bunched :heh:

Watched this movie some time ago, but somehow missed putting it in my reviews. Got asked about it recently by our good friend WinTwins and remembered loving this movie but realized that I hadn't reviewed it. Apologies! Decided to give it another watch prior to reviewing it. First off this movie is a sci-fi thriller, not exactly horror. So if that isn't your bag, then stop reading. What really jumps out at me in this movie is that the cinematography is particularly incredible. The movie is confined to a small apartment complex, and yet somehow it doesn't feel small at all. The way the director captures the setting is chillingly beautiful. The angles, the panning, the transitions, etc were all masterful. I never thought a man looking at a bunch of polaroids pinned to a wall would be the recipe for a spectacular shot, but somehow it is. I haven't seen a movie with this kind of creepy and eerie beauty in a while. As for the other components, each of the three main characters were played very well with good to great acting. The writing was really well done, and the suspense & progression were captivating. The overall aspect of the plot may seem simple, but the creativity in this movie makes it very thought-provoking and enthralling. This was definitely one of the more intense & interesting films I've watched recently and I found myself both eager to know the resolution and wanting the movie not to end. Believe it or not, but this movie was the directorial debut for Bradley King, and yet you would never know it by watching the movie. If he can pull something like this off on his first try at a feature film, I cannot wait to see what comes next. This movie was a nice relief from mind-numbing Hollywood films. It's not an artsy-fartsy indie movie, but rather a good thriller with more believable dialog and characters than most Hollywood films. If you enjoy thought-provoking sci-fi thrill rides then definitely give this a go. You won't be disappointed.

How would you handle knowing your future? 8.5/10

Just saw The Conjuring 2

Pretty predictable and slow moving. The best part of the entire movie for me was the wacked out Nun.

Gotta get that mask for Halloween
