Finally got around to this one and enjoyed it. They really dial it up a bit at times, wish they had reigned that in a bit, would have worked better if it was gritty/more grounded. The Pope's Exorcist on Netflix with Russell Crowe.
Not much horror/gore or scares, but the odd joke here and there was amusing.
Ending was a bit formulaic.
But, the story was really good with historical references.
I liked it.
Solid 7/10.

I'm currently watching Alien for the first time (I'm ashamed of myself). My God is the science officer a jackass.

Considering the year it was released, it actually holds up pretty well.
Oddly enough, for my favorite sci-fi horror movie, I still might lean towards Carpenter's The Thing.
Alien and The Thing are pretty similar in a lot of ways. And both hold up well. As with all horror movies, setting, atmosphere etc are what make it, those are timeless. If Alien was made today it would be CGId to all hell and be dated and unwatchable within a decade.
