Still gives me chills... I remember first seeing this scene as well. Epic!I missed this about Tobe Hooper as well. I admired the hell outta the guy, especially for his Poltergeist.
May seem tame nowadays and this gif doesn't do it justice...but I freakin' loved this scene:

What I loved most about Hooper was how he was never afraid to break the moral/societal boundaries. Coined as "transgressive horror" by Nick Zedd, and Tobe Hooper was one of the best in that regard. His movies were designed to be offensive & shocking. The impact he had on the horror genre was immense.Tobe Hoppers was admitably a bit hit and miss but he had some classics.
Another Master gone. Sad times.
