Yeah Harry could feel like he was sold down the river but tough choices have to be made for the good of the team which is why I respect JD. He is willing to be the bad guy. Wish the best for Harry. I like my odds better with Hamels

The more I think about it, JD getting Amaro to take Harry and his salary, and include cash for Hamels was fucking genius. It was basically a give the JT for Harry's contract deal. That tilts the deal in our favor IMO.

Plus we don't know what the extra cash is at this point. Lost Harry's contract and extra change for RHB

Still gotta figure out how to dump Choo IMO.
Yeah Glad he did well. Maybe bad contract for bad contract. Hopefully a pitcher. It has been shown tonight that teams buy bad players for prospects

Gallo has been spending a lot of time in LF, but unless he really shows a turn around at Round Rock through the end of the season I say start him in AAA next season till he proves he can adjust.

Not really sure how much I like this deal or not yet. I didn't realize we would have Hamels locked up till 2019, that makes a huge difference in my book. Also, unloading Harrison is pretty big... wish we could have talked them into Choo too :).

Really hate to lose Alfaro and Thompson... really Alfaro even more so. It's tough to find a good catcher and he has a ton of promise. I guess Telis is our guy now?

So what does this make the rotation next season when Yu gets back? Also, does anyone think this effects extending or re-signing Yu or did we break even salary wise on this deal?

It's probably an insurance policy for if they don't re-sign Yu, but they've got him locked up through 2017 anyways. If we're gonna re-sign Yu, we better start winning.

Yeah, that was kind of what I was thinking. Still, even if it is all we get, getting 2 years with them at the top of the rotation should be killer.

Yu
Hamels
Holland
Perez
Martinez/Gonzales/Lewis

Doesn't sound bad at all. Am I missing someone or does that seem about right?

Don't expect Yu to get back in a groove till the second half next year.

Yeah, I'm being overly optimistic there. I'm just really hoping for a good season next year... I am pretty much checked out on this one honestly.

So we get Hamels potentially for 61 mil till 2019 if his option vests for approximately 16 mil per season and unload the liability of Harry's contract? This deal is looking better. Getting them to take Harry's contract is making this more palatable.

The fact that they felt it necessary to give up so much to get some financial relief makes me wonder if they plan on spending enough to even offer Yu an extension. If they are selling off prospects then I don't see much hope for budget increases.

Unless they're freeing up money by dumping Harrison's contract so they can spend money on things like extending Yu. But keep going with your "the sky is falling" rhetoric.

I will keep up my rhetoric and you can keep yours up. That is what boards like this are for I guess.

Sure. I'll just continue to point out when you're being ridiculous. You're as bad as some of those fools on Disney used to be sometimes.

That's nice. At least us fools make you look smart. Glad I can do my part.
