Wow if true.

Source: DT Henry Melton is still in the Seattle-area, as of this early morning. At this time, the plan is for Melton to still visit the Cowboys.. if a deal doesn't get "finalized" with the Seahawks. The situation remains fluid as of now though.

The guy was one of the top run stuffers in 2012. He hurt his ACL in 2013. Possibly Schneider and PC selling him on a Bennett/Avril type of 2013 "you get to play for a ring and prove you can come back from the injury and get yourself a bigger FA deal down the road" thing. That he'll not be expect to go out there and start right away, but rotate in slowly to rebuild himself during the course of the season.

He's still fairly young at 27.

I would loved to see him signed, but feel the Seahawks should extend Thomas and Sherman as the next order of business.

Thurmond sent out a cryptic tweet a few hours ago of : "Dun dun dunnnnnnnnn!!!!"

Analysts are saying news of a deal (Seattle or with another team) coming in the next couple hours.

Not sure extensions for either will be announced for awhile. Expect FA to wrap up first.

Per Erskine Hinds - Source: DT Henry Melton's agents are in the final stages of getting a deal done with the Seahawks. Deal could be done tonight or early tomorrow morning.

He's more of a pass rusher than a run-stuffer. He had 6 sacks in '12 and would be great alongside Bennett in the nickel package. I don't know how good he is against the run, but his specialty is inside pass-rushing.

This.

He would be a huge addition though. Will be interesting to see what kind of deal he signs. I wonder if it will be a multi year deal or if he takes a short term deal like Bennett did to increase his value coming off of an injury.

I think he would be mainly used in passing situations. You would have him and Bennett inside in passing situations and then Mebane and McDaniel inside in running situations. Also have Hill and Williams to rotate in creating nice depth.

6 sacks in 2012 and 7 sacks in 2011

The guy ran a 4.64 40 time when he came out of college!

This was someone I wanted the Seahawks to sign last off season! With his acl injury this will most likely be a Bennett/Avril like short term deal

Seattle would be perfect for Melton because we already have Mebane and Mcdaniel in place. So he wouldn't necessarily need to rush his recovery process

Also...really hoping we get Thurmond back. I'm perfectly fine with Sherman, Maxwell and Lane but if any of them goes down with an injury then we're extremely thin.

So is it safe to say that he'd be the 2014 version of McDonald?

I was hoping also, but he signed with the Giants.

Yeah, I think they should have matched that deal.
We could have but there is no guarantee he wanted to be back. He may not have started here where as in New York he will probably get a chance to start and show his ability. Would have been nice to get him back but as long as its not the niners Im ok with it.

Looks like we didn't close the deal on Melton and he's on his way to Dallas to continue negotiations
