The funniest thing about last nights game is this. With all the clear intent to injure, and that is what that turned into with all the guys just going at each other, there will be no suspensions from the game.

If White doesn't get suspended for that vicious two-hander, Shanaban should resign.

Or Bourque for that blatant flying elbow, plus him being a repeat offender he should have the book thrown at him.

The only consistancy from the NHL Department of Player Safety is the inconsistancy.

Wow - As stated in the article, perplexing is a great word to describe not a single suspension being handed out from that exhibition last night.

Nope, head wasn't targetted, no suspension or fine necessary...

Only one player per series can be suspended?

Of course, the other way to look at it is let Bourque and White continue to do stupid shit out there, the Sens are quite fine with making them pay on the scoreboard.

Besides the article kept saying that Bourque hit Conacher with an elbow, what are they thinking, it was clearly a butt end.

I think that the NHL is making a mistake. If you really want the new NHL safer for players and family friendly then you need at least a token suspension out of game 3.

Simply amazing.

How can that not be a suspension? I mean how can anyone justify that elbow?

Go look at Ference's elbow and it is not nearly as bad as this thing and he gets a game. Bourque just flat out runs right at him and elbows him in the face.

For there to be no suspensions from that game is just fucking ridiculous, and that's putting it lightly. I'm so stunned by that I just can't think straight to really give an opinion. Utterly pathetic decision by the league. I hope Ottawa goes out and kicks the living shit out of every single Habs player, with Bourque and Subban first in line. What those 2 in particular did was disgraceful.

Have you watched the games?

Yes, but I watched game 1 in a crowded bar - couldn't hear a thing and didn't really watch any replays - and game 3 from the upper bowl at Scotiabank. It was hard to see what happened in the scrums.

From the 300 level you can see PK is a douche, but I didn't see anything from Gallagher, that's why I was asking.

I was in Sens gear in Philly during the 419 Penalty minute fiasco. I feel your pain.

There was some good back and forth. Habs fans who left early in the third were rightly jeered (although just as many Sens fans left early too, I guess beating traffic is more important than enjoying a playoff win). But there was also a lot of derogatory stuff said about Quebecers. Ironic since the fans went on to chant Pageau's name. But at one point a group of rowdy fans behind me told a girl in Habs gear walking to her seat to "Sit down ya fat fucking pig". She was a teenager there with her sister and mom, from what I could tell. That's too much. I wanted to say something, but honestly, wearing Habs gear myself and considering how much those guys had drank, I don't think it would have been wise.

I don't think Ottawa fans are worse than any other home fanbase. In fact, they're probably better. Just depresses me that people can get like that over sports. My brother is taking his Korean fiance to Game 4. She's new to Canada, loves hockey, and loves the Habs. She should be able to go to her first hockey game and be blown away by how amazing it is, harrassment free, but I'm not sure it will go that way.

I know I argued with a lot of people about the Gryba hit, so let me just say, Bourque should have been suspended for sure. I don't want to get into the Gryba debate again, but if you assume he was suspended for a reckless hit on a vulnerable opponent that unfortunately led to major injury, I would have given Bourque 3 or 4 for that elbow.

Haven't seen the White slash yet.

I've only been to two games there, but I was struck by how much nicer the crowd seemed to be than most places I've been. Granted, I was in Sens gear, so that may have factored in. But one game was Bruins and there were some B's fans there and there was no harshness. The other game was against the Avs. No animosity AT ALL. Actually, not much in the way of energy...

And the first year here in Columbus, I went to the Sens game in Sens gear and even though the Sens didn't show up and got schooled, I got no flack from the Jackets fans and two guys shook my hand and said "good game".

I know this is unusual, but one of the ways I knew I moved to the right place. And if I didn't wind up here, I'd be in Ottawa. The job just happened here first.
