Fucking great pick up by AZ, though.

Isn't AZ like Florida and Texas where they don't have a state income tax? Probably played a big part in his decision if so, can't really blame him for all that free money.

We have a state income tax. It's only about 4.5%, which is around 9% lower than California. That alone should save him around $18 mil over the life of deal.

I've always said whatever team snag Grienke for this much coin is gonna regret it. Let's see how things go.

Only a matter of time before he goes mental again.

he already has gone mental if he thinks Arz is better than LAD for run support. The reason he wanted out of KC.

Arizona nearly had half of the top 10 hitters in the NL. How can you question their offense? It was far better than LA's and was one of the best in baseball.

Arizona is top tier both offensively and defensively. All they needed was legit pitching and signing someone who just had the lowest ERA of our lifetime is a pretty good start.

Goldy and Pollock are both better position players than LA has. You must not follow baseball all that close.

Not to mention Peralta, Enciarte, Tomas, Castillo, etc.

Arizona's defense is also elite, I believe they saved the most runs in the MLB last year.

He's probably one of those guys that doesn't know who AJ Pollock, Ender Inciarte and David Peralta are.

To be fair, Chase Field has one of the higher Park Factors for runs in the league.

Yeah, I mean Chase is a hitter's park but I've always felt it's been overhyped in that regard a bit. I mean, the Dbacks haven't had a good pitching staff really since the Randy-Curt days and they typically are known for having strong offensive teams, #'s will be skewed a bit when you have bad rotations and a strong offense year after year.

I think of Grienke in a hitters park and Im reminded of the All Star Game first pitch where Trout hit a fly ball into the stands.

Still, this is obviously a power shift. Its just odd to see a team payroll that lopsided

They scored 12 more runs at home than on the road.

It's still a hitter's park compared to a pitcher's park and only a difference of .31 runs per game, which isn't something that makes you say one team is much better offensively than the other. But as Sting said, the numbers may be skewed a bit by the Diamondbacks' poor pitching staff.

The Dbacks were also statistically comparable to the Dodgers' on the defensive side of things, the difference really was the starting staff's ERA, which will be helped by Greinke. The top 5 teams in the NL in starting pitching staff ERA all went to the playoffs. Still tough to think about if the Dodgers had a healthy Ryu last season, especially when game 3 rolled around and Anderson/Wood got shelled.

ok, ok, I guess I don't follow ARI at all the last few seasons, my bad, they look really pretty good. Been consumed by the Royals the last couple of years.

No worries. It's not like they were world beaters last year so I don't expect most people to know some of our breakout studs, but this team was looking promising and being picked as a surprise contender before they signed Greinke. Now with him and a couple other small pieces they look like contenders.

I wrote an article on elite daily talking about how the Dbacks could be the 2016 Mets.

Greinke makes it look that much better of a bet now.

Decent pickup for Arizona. Look to be a wild card team this year for sure.

Add in the fact that we have 3 top 100 pitching prospects that are major league ready too (Bradley, Blair, Shipley) if we can get one of them to pan out next year plus get Corbin for an entire season (he returned mid-way through last year) then we're looking good.

A lot of people overlook Robbie Ray as well, he showed a lot of potential last year. I still think they need one veteran type of starter in the rotation though for now. Bullpen looks solid too, if we stay healthy a WC birth is very possible along with a division title depending on what SF/LAD does.
