If the Rumors are true yall overpaid for Shelby Miller...yeesh.
I think we can afford to lose Inciarte as we already had 4 starting outfielders but man, Dansby Swanson was the number one pick less than a year ago. I don't have an opinion on Blair. It seems all of our top pitching prospects never do anything.

Putting a lot of faith in Tomas.

Probably would've been better off dangling Tomas and Blair to get a lesser pitcher but save Inciarte. The defense (which was better than the royals last year) was a key cog in Arizona's success.

One guy to look out for: Socrates Brito (awesome name, awesome game)

Think he's an under the radar prospect that'll step in and contribute right away next year. Him and Tomas should split time in the OF. His defense is Inciarte-like too, so there wouldn't be a huge drop off.

No one is taking Tomas' contract. We already have a replacement for Inciarte in Brito. He brings just as many tools to the game as Inciarte. Brito will be the 4th OF & will likely get 300+ ABs.

Plenty of teams would take Tomas. They were lining up down the block for him.

Inciarte was a 3 win player in 2015 (3.3)

Miller was 3.4.

So you traded arguably your 2 best prospects for .1 wins.

This trade without Inciarte at least makes some sense.

No team is lining up to take his contract. He was a -1.3 war player last season.

2016 $7,500,000
2017 $9,500,000
2018 $13,500,000
2019 $15,500,000
2020 $17,000,000

Has an opt out after the 2017 season.

We already have a replacement for Inciarte in Socrates Brito.

The Braves robbed the Diamondbacks in the Shelby Miller trade, getting an elite defensive outfielder in Ender Inciarte and two top prospects, including 2015 No. 1 overall pick Dansby Swanson. And I'm not sure Arizona is even any better. Miller will help in the rotation but Yasmany Tomas is a poor defender and a worse hitter in 2015 than Inciarte. Maybe he improves. The D-backs better hope so.

Brito does not appear likely to hit big league pitching. His offensive contribution is almost solely due to his .389 babip. Good luck with him repeating that. They should've moved Brito instead of Ender.

His scouting report on fangraphs isnt' all that favorable either.

If you're going for it, trading Ender instead of Brito makes no sense.

Like there was that option. Atlanta wanted Pollock all along. Substituting Brito wan't an option.

With Swanson and Blair?

Then just sign Leake.

Greinke/Corbin/Leake/Ray is a damn good core 4. And you keep your SS of the future who would likely be up by 2018 at the latest...still in your contender window.

There were also plenty who felt he wouldn't be all that good in the majors given his Cuban stats...looking at guys like Cespedes, Abreu etc, you can generally expect around a 200 point decrease in OPS when going from the Cuban leagues to majors...with Tomas, he had a low .900s OPS in his best Cuban years, and the trend held true for him as he had a low .700s OPS in the majors.

Brito/Blair/Swason still would've been a massive overpay.

Just getting Swanson meant the Braves won the deal.

Even Archie Bradley/Blair would've been more palatable. And fair than this crap.

I want AZ to be good....but this was just awful.

To be fair he's faced arguably the best two offenses in the MLB in his first two starts… he'll settle down.
